I am seeking information on my ggg grandfather, Leonard Ellis, who was born in Kentucky in 1784, married Mary Babb (b. 1786) in Frederick, Virginia, on April 21, 1808. They moved to Clinton County, Ohio, in 1813, and moved back and forth between Clinton and Warren Counties for a few years. In 1838, they moved permanently to Warren County where they stayed until Mary died in 1842, and Leonard died in 1856. They had four sons. I only know the names of two-- Lee (b. 1815 in Clinton County) and James (b. 1822 in Warren County). I would like to find the names of Leonard Ellis's parents, and don't know if there are any records in Warren County that would show that. I would also like to find out where he and Mary are buried. Their sons, Lee and James, and their wives and some of their children are buried in Miami Cemetery in Waynesville, but I checked the records and their names are not there. I think they might have belonged to the Society of Friends, because I know that James, his wife, Mary Jane Harlan, and their descendents all belonged to the Society of Friends. Marilyn

Hello list.... I inherited an old family Bible that belonged to my gggg grandmother, Elizabeth Harris Young, born 1760, died 1830. She was the wife of Joseph Young of Salem County NJ who moved his family to Warren County where he died in 1816 and she in 1830. There are several old newsclippings in this Bible. Some of the names are Krewson, Hizar, Margaret Jane Badger, a Mr. John Harris, and an article (torn in half) with info on a woman named Harris, who was born 13 Feb 1839 and married in 1873. If anyone is researching these names, I'd be happy to email you the info in the obits. Becky in AZ

I'm interested in that cemetery, too, but it seems to me it was relocated or something. Can one of you kind souls help us out? Lynne Rich Lowe wrote: > > Was there a Bethany Cem. in Warren Co. There was also an Allen Nixon who married an Elizabeth C. Hatfield in 1846. Do you know if this was the same Allen Nixon who had married Margaret and was John T.'s father or was this Allen perhaps another son? Thanks for your info, Jeanie. My Johnsons and Crains were in the county from around 1800-1830 and just realized today that the above family from my wife's side was also in Warren Co. Was there a Bethany Cem. in Warren Co. OH? I have notes that Margaret Troutman NIXON was buried in Bethany Cem. Warren Co., however, I don't see this particular cemetery listed on the Warren Co. GenWeb page listing. If there is such a cemetery and if someone has an index, could you let me know if you show a Margaret NIXON? Also an Allen Nixon? Thanks! Rich
There are two Bethany Cemeteries listed in Turtle Creek Township: Bethany - located North side of State Route 123, just North of I-17. Old Bethany - located off State Route 123 near Bethany Cemetery. There is a Bethany Baptist Cemetery in Washington Township, located near Old Baptist Church on County Road 7 (Lebanon-Wilmington Pike) This information was taken from the Ohio Cemeteries Book - 1978. In paranthes after the information is notation that the information for this book was taken from the Warren County Cemetery Records book. Hope this is helpful to you. Joan H
Re: St Joseph Health Center address: try the Yellow Pages on AOL-there are 5 list-ings for this name. Peggy in Fla
I have information that one of my wife's relatives died a few months ago at the St Joseph Health Center in Warren. I would appreciate it if someone might give me the mailing address for this center. I would also like to know how it will be before the death certificate would be available to someone not in the immediate family. Thanks in advance.
I have a copy of a marriage certificate of my maternal great grandparents, LOU BINCKLEY and WILLIAM HENRY CRISMAN. They were married June 28, 1887. I have reason to believe at least LOU BINCKLEY was a Warren County resident. Does anyone have anything on either of these two names? Please reply to Miscris2@aol.com if you have any information. Thank you!

Can anyone give me a clue here. I made up my mind that I would take a visit to Lebanon, Ohio on Monday and see what I could find at the Warren County Genealogical Society. Well, I thought maybe I should call and let them know that I was making the trip, and at the same time, to insure that they would in fact be open for visitors. So, I got on the web, addressed www.rootsweb.com. Went to the Warren County page, clicked on other county resources and got a page with: Warren County Chapter Ohio Genealogical Society 190 New Street P.O. Box 296 Lebanon, Ohio 45036 (513) 932-1144 The hours are 9:00 A.M - 4:00 P.M. Monday,Thursday and Friday Well, I called about 20 till 12:00 this afternoon - No Answer. So, I thought,"Well, maybe they are at lunch". Called again at 12:30. Same story. Called at 1:30. Still no answer. I let it ring about 10 or 12 times each time I called. I didn't know what kind of obstacle course the folks there had to run, in order to answer the phone. So now I'm wondering, "Hmmmmm ..... Well if no one is there today (Which is a Friday), I wonder if anyone is going to be there on Monday ???? I sure don't want to drive no 40-50 miles just to turn around and come back. Do any of you listers visit this place very often ???? Would any of you know for sure if it's going to be open on Monday or not ??? Sure would appreciate some info on the place. Thanks !!!! Doug
