Darlene, Do you know who the parents of Betsey Wasson-1833 are? Do you know who the parents of Anna Anderson-1817 are? My Wasson ancestoes were in North Carolina in the 1770s. My Anderson ancestors were in Warren County, OH in 1804. Mary Anderson married John Winterrowd in South Lebanon, Warren County. I beleve here father was Allen Anderson. Mert in Louisville. That marriage record is Page 187, #1666. They married or got the license in Warren County, OH. Other Collins who married during that time frame are: Amos (Abby Bennett-1819); Edmund (Hannah Collins-1819); Edmund (Nancy Randolph-1834); Eli (Susannah Helmick-1816); George (Laura Bennet-1825); James (Nancy Everhart-1835); John (Charity Banta (Bonta)-1818); John (Betsey Wasson-1833); Levi (Elizabeth Snell-1818); Thomas (Sarah Brannon-1833); Wesley (Hannah Camp-1825); and William (Anna Anderson-1817). There is a book "Warren County Chancery Records 1824-1851," which listed some Collins, but not a Peter Collins. There are Millers listed, but none for Sarah Miller or Sarah Collins. Look at the 1810 Census for Pa and see if the four Collins families are still there and again in 1820. If one is missing in PA then perhaps he migrated to Warren County, OH. Probate and land records are usually a good source of information. I "track" the land that my ancestors bought to see when they made the purchase (could indicate when they moved into the county) and when they sold that piece of land (could indicate they moved from the area unless they purchased more land). If you cannot locate any of the PA Collins as having moved to Warren County, OH perhaps some of their neighbors moved and they could be relatives of the Collins. Was Peter listed with a family on the 1820 in OH? He would have been listed as head on the 1830 in OH. Don't overlook the fact that these Collins could have been of the Quaker faith. I have Smiths moving from NY who were Quakers and in one of those 6 Volumes of Quaker Records I found my Smith family listing their children. I also have Sprays, and Hollingsworth moving from SC to Warren County, OH and they were also Quakers. The Quaker Records are online at Ancestry.com. Hope this helps some. The Warren County Genealogical Society will do some research for you for a nominal fee. There are two ladies in OH who do research for me, as I do not live in Ohio. To everyone on the list, Hello. My name is Randell G. Collins. I live in Center Point, Indiana which is close to Terre Haute, IN. I am in hopes you may be able to help me, and I would be happy to share what info I have. I am looking for the family of Peter Collins. He was born 08-09-1799 in Fayette Co. PA. When he was 13 (1812) his family moved to Warren County PA. He lived there for some time, working as a wagonmaker. In 1820 he married Sarah Miller, a native of Hamilton Co. OH. In 1836 he moved to Vigo Co. IN. He died in 1880 and is buried here in Vigo Co. I have info on his children, and on down to myself. He is my GGG grandfather. In the 1800 Fayette Co. PA Census I have 4 possible families that might have been his, he would have been 1 year old and there are 4 families with a male child in that age range. I am going to continue on the PA. trail but am also trying to pick them up in Ohio if I can. I want to find out his siblings and parents. Thanks for any help and suggestions. Randy Collins. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
MaryLou..... I just read your Hall/Scoville post with interest. For 20 years I've been trying to determine the parents of my orphaned great grandmother Bell Hall. She was born around 1865-1867 which would have made her 13-15 yrs old --fitting the ages of your Jane's children. Bell was placed in the Warren County Orphan's Home when she was a young child and after a few years, a family named Mardis took her from the orphanage to raise her in exchange for help on their farm. She lived with them until she married my great grandfather, Charles Hizar, in 1883. Could Jane Hall have put her children into the Orphanage as a result of not being able to care for them after she was widowed? Hall is such a common name and difficult to research so I may be stretching things here, but I would surely appreciate hearing back from you....maybe we could make some progress. Would like to find out if this Jane Hall is the one who married my g grandfather, Hiram Nelson Scoville in 1852,in Warren county, Ohio. He died in 1858 and left her with 2 children under the age of 15 according to the probate record. I would like to know the names and ages of the children and what happened to Jane after Hiram died. I have found a Jane Hall who is the daughter of James Hall, b KY 28 Nov 1796, d 1878. Married 1818 Isabel Newell. Isabel died 6 Feb 1875. Other children were: William, Alexander, John, Andrew, Isaac, Mary. Parents of James Hall were Alexander Hall and Polly who died 1840 at 70yrs. If any of these names sound familiar I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks Marylou Denyer
I have been trying to locate the Emily cemetery which was located just west of Clarksville on an abandoned section of what used to be the College Township Road. Probably very near where Bullskin Trace crossed College Township. George McManis laid out cemetery and first person buried there was his son Milton McManis. Any information appreciated. Could this cemetery have been called by another name? I checked the Ohio Cemetery Book - 1978 and found nothing. I checked for Emily, McManis, Bullskin Trace and College Township and none of those are listed. Joan H jhuecker@aol.com
Now to correct my math mistakes of yesterday. Enoch Harker would have been born June 27, 1804, and his wife, Christiana, would have been born May 9, 1825, according to the information in the Shiloh Cemetery. However, other researchers have her married in 1826 with her first child in 1827. Can anyone substantiate when she was born? Thanks to all. Linda L. Holder

Enoch Harker (b. 7-28-1805 in NJ) died 4-10-1867 in Mt. Repose, Clermont Co., OH and is buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Goshen Township, Clermont County. His wife, Christiana Shields (or Sheets) (b. 9-9-1825 in NJ) died 7-27-1860 and is also buried in Shiloh Cemetery. At least one of their children, Christiana (b. 8-19-1844) was born in Mt. Repose. Other children were: Daniel (b. 1842), Isaac, and Charles. Yet, I find no other evidence that they lived in Clermont County. Could they have lived in Warren County? Daughter Christiana (1844) m. Benjamin Hawthorne 2-6-1866, at Pleasant Plain, Warren Co. Benjamin (b. 9-17-1844 at Russell Station, Warren County) was child of William Hawthorne (d. 1887) and Rachel Lever (d. 1859) both of whom died in Clinton County, OH. Is anyone else out there working on William and Rachel?
I'm new to this list and would like to find anyone who knows of my ancestors as described below. But most importantly I'm hoping someone might be able to do a 1910 & 20 census look up for me for Ralph Gibbs and his mother, Mary Gibbs who was living next door to Ralph and his young family in 1910 - he was then on census page 0157 at South Lebanon, OH. I don't have any kind of index to tell if they were on the 1920 census but would hope to figure that out also. George GIBBS - b. 1826 - probably in England, was in the Mexican-American War and was injured with loss of a leg in the Civil war. He was married in Cincinnati, OH 1848 to Mary Matilda CHAMBERS. He moved to Warren Co, OH about 1892 with his 2nd wife, Mary LOGAN - and 2 children from that marriage as his children from his wife that died in 1882 at Washington Co, Indiana were on their own by the 1890s. Those two children were Ralph L. - born about 1885 & Nellie born 1889. They grew up in Warren Co, OH on their farm just East of the tiny town of Foster. George died 1903 near their farm when his horse & wagon were hit by a train. I don't know when his 2nd wife, Mary died, but I know she was living next to her son, Ralph on the 1910 census - page 0157. Ralph married Ruby COOPER (b.-1890) at Warren Co, OH about 1905? She was the d/o George COOPER & Ruth YOUNG from Warren Co. also.. Ralph & Ruby GIBBS had 4 children: Harold, Virginia Gertrude, Vernon C. & Paul R. I haven't been able to track these children and don't know if any are still alive. Ralph's younger sister, Nellie married Jean BURK(E). I only know of their 1st child, Mary Gertrude BURK(E) born June 1910 born in Warren Co. I know Nellie & Jean BURK(E) moved to Cincinnatti by 1918. -- mailto:magriff@bigfoot.com (preferred address) Thank you & sincerely, Allan Griffith, # 1 Jodi Lane, Bloomington, IL, USA 61701 Home phone: 309-828-2059; 2nd choice: 309-829-2063 Alternates: magrif@gte.net -OR last choice: magrif@hotmail.com Note alternates both have ONE "F" & only use if bigfoot bounces Personal HomePage: http://www.bigfoot.com/~magriff/
