When I was married in 1956 the neighbors gathered and there was a belling. The groom was expected to supply the bellers with candy bars and cigars. It was a fun thing. I also remember at my sisters bridal shower some naughty person wrapped a small baby potty and it had a junk of limburger cheese in it, what a smell. Of course everyone got a big laugh out of it.
