This list is really terrific.. You all go above and beyond ! I wanted to tell Diana my experience looking at all the old land records. They people in the Vinton Co. courthouse were great to begin with.. and you could even look for records by last name etc. The hugh old books that held the records were put right on a copier and you had your copy. Forgot the fee, but not much. If you have the time you can actually trace that piece of property thru the years with all the different owners. It is HARD work tho. I am usually exhausted after a short time because those books are heavy and hugh.. You are on your own to trace and get what you need. I was able to prove a marriage with a land record. If it is sold after a death then the various heirs have to sigh off etc. so you can prove a child or get their married names. Other than that it is just nice to have the original paperwork of your ancestor. Susie
