Mrs. Clare MERRILL of Hamden was visiting relatives here Saturday. Mrs. Claude WYATT of route 2, purchased a player piano last week. J. T. LONG of Wilkesville was a business visitor in McArthur Monday. James MACE of Laurelville was a business visitor in McArthur Tuesday. Miss Jennie CURRY of Wilkesville was here the latter part of last week. Mrs. George PHILLIPS of Wilkesville was visiting Mrs. Joe SMITH on Monday. W. J. BECKLEY of Ewington was a business visitor in McArthur last Saturday. Henry CRAIG of route 1, Hamden was a business visitor in McArthur Monday. Lewis RICKETTS of Columbus spent part of the week with James LYLE and family. Mrs. Joe HOWELL of Hamden was visiting relatives here the latter part of last week. Tom DARST has been home from Columbus sick for the past week, but is on the mend. Miss Emma ULLOM of Gallipolis is visiting Mrs. Lena THOMASON and other relatives here. Senator and Mrs. VOLLENWEIDER went to Columbus Tuesday and will return Friday. Mrs. Frank TRIPP and two children of Columbus visited home folks at Zaleski last week. Ernest BISHOP of Locust Grove was visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Helen SHIVELY over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. F. P. MAGEE returned from Columbus Monday after a weeks visit with friends there. Harry WOODSON was in Columbus last week visiting his sister, Miss Susie and his aunt Emma. Mrs. Charles BAUMEISTER of Cleveland is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. T. D. SHARP this week. The Ladies Aid of the Christian Church met at the home of Mrs. J. W. WARD Wednesday afternoon. Elmer POTTS of Columbus has sold his confectionery and has purchased a grocery and meat store there. Attorney James W. DARBY went to Columbus today on legal business. M. L. TROUT of Vinton was in McArthur visitor Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs. James LYLE was the guest of her brother Richard BROOKS of Middleport from Saturday till Monday. Mrs. Don MCVEY of Columbus was visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. BECKLEY from Saturday till Monday. The McArthur Base Ball Club will meet at the office of the Justice of the Peace Friday, March 15, at 7:00 p.m. Abe and Charley YOUNG of Hamden who just arrived from overseas were visiting Jesse BROWN and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Willis BARNHART of Dayton were the guests of Mrs. and Mrs. Henry CROW the latter part of last week. Mrs. Herb WALDRON of Dundas is not expected to live through the day. She is one of the flu victims at that place. Mrs. Vance MORROW left Friday to take care of her daughter Mrs. Ben HUTCHINSON and family of Jackson, who are ill with flu. County Superintendant COPELAND has gone to Guysville on account of the sickness of his wife and son, who are staying there with relatives at present. Mrs. VANDERFORD of Hamden is attending Mrs. O. F. PILCHER, who is ill. A trained nurse from Hamden is also attending sick people at the home of John ELLINGTON. Mr. and Mrs. Ben GERWICK (Bernice COULTRAP) of Berkley, California, have a new son born on Washington's birthday. He will be called Ben after his father and an uncle. Attorney S. D. STOCKS of Mexico, Mo. has returned to his home there after a weeks visit to McArthur and vicinity on business connected with his coal mining interests here. Mrs. Clarene SMITH entertained a number of the loyal women of the Christian Church at a party Thursday night. Refreshments were served and the evening was enjoyed very much by all. Sidney WELCH of New Plymouth is to have a sale at his home in New Plymouth April 2. He has sold his farm and will soon move to Jaynesville, Wisconsin, where two of his married daughters live. Miss Mamie WEST who teaches at Orland, was home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. WEST Friday and Saturday. Her sister Miss Lola WEST, who teaches at Ray, was home Saturday and Sunday. VINWELL OIL AND GAS COMPANY The Vinwell Oil and Gas Company has lands leased southeast of Dundas along the H. V. Railroad, on the TIMMS, Mary CRAIG, Sam RUSSELL and Amy SALTS places. (Title omitted) Dewey GLANDON and Nettie BOBBLET were married Thursday and given an old-fashioned belling that evening. Burt and Edgar DIXON were in Chillicothe Saturday. George NICHOLS and family are suffering from flu. Born to Carlton FOUT and wife recently a daughter. TRIMMER'S RIDGE Mrs. Perry SAYRE and son Arden CAMPBELL were calling on the TRIMMER family Sunday afternoon. Mrs. William SMITH was calling on Mrs. Anna HARKINS at Dundas last Monday. John FRAZEE and Perry SAYRE were hauling hay from Elk Fork last Monday. Miss Minnie SMITH is doing housework for Mrs. Anna HARKINS this week. Minnie SMITH was called to Harold PARTEE's Thursday to do housework for Mrs. PARTEE who has the flu. There are quite a number of cases of flu in our neighborhood again. Mrs. Charles GOODRICH was calling on Lucy TRIMMER last week. Dave TRIMMER is improved a little in health. Mrs. Maggie OWENS has moved from the Eckellberry farm to the home of her father MR. HALLET. Our school has been closed for two weeks on account of the flu."
