The flu is very bad in several localities at present, but seems to be in a much milder form than formerly. L. B. DAILEY, our mail carrier has been off duty for the past ten days. He and his family have been ill of flu. Dallas CARDWELL, substitute carrier is attending to the mail. Michael MC CLORY was a county seat visitor Saturday. Miss Marietta LEE of Dayton spent the past week with her sister, Mrs. F. A. ATKINSON and family here. Miss Helen SNIDER of Latrobe was the week-end guest of the Misses Anna and Elizabeth MC CLORY. Mrs. ATKINSON and her sister, Miss LEE, spent Wednesday with friends in Vinton. The Misses Susie WARWICK and Beatrice GRIFFTON and Miss PAUGH, the teacher in the primary grade of our school were the guests of Miss Sarah RING and Miss Ella RYAN, Sunday afternoon. John QUINN was in Wellston on Thursday having some dental work done. Clement LAWLER has recovered from the flu. Turley MC CUMBER and wife were Radcliff visitors Saturday. A delightful surprise party was enjoyed by a merry crowd of young people at the pleasant country home of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard MC CLORY last Sunday evening, it being their son Edward's twenty first birthday. Dainty refreshments were served and all present enjoyed themselves thoroughly, wishing Edward many more such happy birthdays. George JONES, Manager of the Kinco Coal Company spent the week-end at his home in Crooksville. Bernard MC CLORY, Jr., was a Wellston visiitor Friday. Mrs. Mary GIBLEN of Wellston visited at T. J. SHEEHAN's last week. WILKESVILLE Mrs. Grant BOBO returned to her home at Carpenter Saturday, having spent several days at H. A. WISEMAN's caring for the sick. All are recovering nicely except Mr. WISEMAN, who is still unable to leave his bed. There are several new cases of flu reported the past few days. Mrs. Sue JONES was a business visitor at Wellston, Saturday. Mrs. Fleet WOODS, formerly Miss Edna WILLIAMS of Nebraska, died at her home near Salem Center, Thursday. She leaves besides her husband, a son about three years of age and a baby girl about a month old. Mr. WOODS has the sympathy of all in his irreparable loss. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob PETERS of Fair Play were Sunday guests of Clay PETERS and family. They were accompanied home by their grandson, Harry. H. R. HARDER, C. R. REED and R. D. HARRISON attended the Government sale at Chillicothe. Mrs. B. S. WELLS was at Middleport several days caring for her sister-in-law, Mrs. Julia HOBART, who was injured by falling. Miss Gertrude KNAPP, saleslady in the WELLS store, was confined to the house the past week. Mrs. Edith MC CARLEY and daughter, Mary and the little babe of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. RHODES remain quite poorly from the effects of the flu. G. M. SPIERS was a business visitor at Wellston Saturday. Miss Irma NEWSOME is teaching in the McCormick district, as Miss Mary MC CORMICK was unable to finish the term on account of poor health. Frank WELLS, who has been an intense sufferer from rheumatism for several months was taken to Magnetic Springs last week by Dr. John CLARK. ALLENSVILLE R F D 1. T. C. and L. O. COOK, R. V. ALLISON were Chillicothe visitors, Saturday. D. C. ALLISON of Washington, C. H., spent Monday and Tuesday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. ALLISON. E. W. TURNER and son Ray motored to Chillicothe Thursday for a load of merchandise."
