Hello Kweers, Thank you for posting this census. I believe that this Elijah was the son of Jonatha B and Sarah A Jones., born July 1850 according to the 1850 census. "Baba Clark" sent me an 1850 census that listed Sarah Alexander, age 5, daughter of Caleb and Susan Alexander. After further investigation I believe that the marriage license of Nov 29, 1868 was for this couple, given the ages in this 1880 census. The license was applied for by Jesse H Jones, who was the uncle of Elijah, brother of Jonathan B Jones. The only reason I can come up with is that Jonathan B is listed in his father's (Elijah) will as living in 'unknown county' in Indiana and his son Elijah was not old enough to apply for the license without the consent of a guardian? Yesterday I found a marriage record on the LDS site of an Elijah Jones and Sarah Monrow, April 27, 1815 in Belmont County, Ohio. This may be Jesse H and Jonathan B's parents. My husband was told by another researcher that the older Elijah was married to Sarah "Alexander" but I believe this info is incorrect. This 1815 date would make more sense since the older Elijah and Sarah Jones' first child (Jesse H) was born in 1816. I'm hoping to go to Belmont county soon to check this out.
