    3. >From the McArthur Democrat-Enquirer, January 22, 1919 (title omitted) Mr. and Mrs. Jesse BROWN of McArthur have not heard from their son Floyd who is in the service overseas, for over four months. Otto SHARP of Battery F, 134 Field Artillery, received a slight shrapnel wound on the head in the last of the fighting in France. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. D. SHARP of McArthur. The relatives of Roy HARTLEY, a soldier overseas have just received a letter from him, the first for many months. He reports himself as well and in good condition. In a card to this office, Carl WARD under date of Dec. 23, 1918, that he has arrived with his organization at Arenberg, Germany, after a 225 mile hike. He says he was out that morning and helped to get a Christmas tree and didn't have to go far for it. He is still in the 308th Field Signal Battalion, American E. F., A.P.O, 754. Dave LANTZ has received from Sergeant Ben PEARCE of Battery F, 134th Field Artillery, a field gun shell that was among the last fired on the closing day of the war, November 11th. It is 14 inches long, and was probably fired from a French "75" gun which was being used by our batteries. BENNETT of New Lexington was here last Thursday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur REDICK of Logan spent over Sunday with her parents here. Mrs. James CREMEAN and children and Mrs. J. D. HARRIS and children spent over Sunday of last week in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Herman HOPKINS were in Logan Saturday. Mr. Sam HARMON and family spent over Sunday in Bidwell. Mrs. Jack ANDERSON and baby returned to her home in Columbus, Wednesday. Mr. Herman HOPKINS has purchased the John MOWRY property and John MOWRY has purchased the Sydney WELCH property. Mrs. Anna FREEMAN of Marion is visiting her brother Luther RAIRDEN and family. Mrs. H. W. HARDEN of Logan spent from Wednesday until Friday with relatives here. Anna RAIRDEN and Faye HART of Chillicothe spent over Sunday with the formers parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther RAIRDEN. Misses Anna WOOD and Shella HARRIS were calling in Starr Friday afternoon. H. W. HARDEN of Logan was a business visitor here last Friday. Dwight HARRIS and Luther RAIRDEN were in Chillicothe last week.
