    3. >From the McArthur Democrat-Enquirer, February 26, 1919 (Title omitted) "Mrs. Elmer PETTIT, wife of Judge PETTIT of Logan was the guest of Mrs. J.L. TURNER in McArthur one day last week. Mrs. Rebecca LOWREY has been here for several days visiting her sister, Mrs. Martha MITCHELL and other friends. Mr. and Mrs. George MARTINDILL will move back from Wellston and occupy Mrs. Anna JACOBS' cottage about March 1. Howard HOCKMAN of New Plymouth has sold his mill there to Irwin FREESE. Mr. HOCKMAN has not decided where he will locate. Den STEELE was in Columbus last week for several days attending the convention of the American Hardware Association. Mrs. Lulu THOMPSON of Vinton, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. L. W. HORTON returned to her home Monday morning. The families of Willam and Ott TRAINER, Philip WARD, and others at Dundas have the flu. There are about 20 cases there. Born to Mr. and Mrs. L. W. HORTON, on February 21, a daughter weighing seven pounds. Her name is Maude Marcella HORTON. Mrs. J. L. BECKLEY spent from Friday until Monday with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry BECKLEY at Athens. Supervisor T. M. BUSKIRK met the teachers of Richland township at Ratcliffsburg on the 15th. and a very interesting meeting was held. Rev. A. R. REED, Methodist Protestant minister residing at Pleasantville was visiting friends in Richland township and McArthur last week. Herbert WESCOAT who has been taking a preparatory course with a view to entering Anapolis, has returned home to await the result of an examination he recently took at Athens. Charles CARSON returned home Monday after a few days visit with his brother John in Columbus. John is very low from the effects of blood poisoning, and is not expected to live. Miss Elizabeth JONES, elder daughter of Judge D. W. JONES, a former McArthur citizen, is a nurse and assistant medical examiner with the Board of Juvenile Research in Columbus. D. H. MOORE of McArthur, and grandson, Fred SISSON of Middleport, arrived home from Chicago Monday. They had been attending the funeral of Mr. MOORE's son Herbert at that place. M. A. CLIFFORD of Columbus, a former resident of the Hope neighborhood, was seeing friends in McArthur, Zaleski, and Hope, early last week. He is in the employ of the Hocking Valley railroad. L. W. SPRAGUE returned from Chicago by the way of Columbus a few days ago. Mrs. SPRAGUE who had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Frane ZEIGLER and family in Columbus accompanied him home. Mrs. T. D. SHARP returned Saturday from a two weeks visit with her daughter Mrs. John SHOCKEY and other relatives in Columbus. Her daughter Miss Ora accompanied her home and stayed over Sunday. M. L. TROUT of Vinton, who is a member of the real estate company was here Monday assisting Mr. DAWSON in starting up the business. Mr. TROUT will be a frequent visitor here on business for the company. Mrs. J. H. PENROD and three children, Mary, Gladys, and John Jr. of Columbus are visiting relatives and friends at McArthur and vicinity. Mrs. PENROD and daughter Mary have lately recovered from the flu. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Will GOODWIN at their home in Philadelphia Pa., on Wednesday February, 19, a son. Mr. GOODWIN is a son of Mrs. Elizabeth Will GOODWIN, who is a daughter of Mrs. J. S. WILL of McArthur."
