Hello- I'm looking for the parents of Samuel Huston, info on his wife Mary Ann Gorby, and the parents of Amanda "Mandy" Rosela Lee. I've listed all of the names/dates I currently have below. Aft. 1880 *living in Salem Township, Meigs County per the 1850 Census *living in Vinton Township, Vinton County per the 1870 Census *living in Vinton Township, Vinton County per the 1880 Census ......their 2 sons (I know of no other siblings at this time): John M. Huston b. April 25, 1845 d. March 23, 1864 Marcus L. Huston b. June 06, 1852 in Ohio d. July 08, 1916 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan +Amanda "Mandy" Rosela Lee b. Abt. 1857 in Ohio d. abt 1891 in Ohio (Marcus & Amanda married on July 01, 1875 in Vinton Co., Ohio) The children of Marcus and Amanda: Samuel Huston b. Abt. 1876 in Ohio Annie C. Huston b. Abt. 1878 in Ohio (later died while giving birth) Ida Belle Huston b. June 15, 1880 in Vinton Co., OH John, who later lived in Grand Rapids, MI and died of Typhoid. Val Huston b. ? married a Mr. Chowning, and she had one daughter who married a Pomroy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OK, that's what I know about my Samuel Huston & family. Now here are some additional facts which i've found over the years: The wife of my Samuel Huston; Mary Ann Gorby, had an older brother named Jacob Gorby. Jacob married an Ann Huston (b. 1811) in Columbiana Co in 1830. The parents of Mary Ann Gorby and Jacob Gorby lived in St. Clair Twp & then Middleton Twp., Columbiana Co, OH so I suspect that the parents of my Samuel did also live in one of those two townships. I suspect that the Ann Huston above, was an older sister to my Samuel Huston. This suspicion is based not only on the fact that sibling marriages were fairly common back then, but also that my Samuel Huston and wife Mary Ann had moved to Meigs Co., OH and were living just down the road from Jacob Gorby and wife Ann [Huston] in the 1840 Meigs Co., OH Census.
