Some of it may be private or may now be part of Zaleski State forest. Along parts of that area is where McGlaughlin had an orchard into the early 70's. A comparison with current plat maps will give you the answer, which I will check with Mom's copy in McArthur. I recently did that with a cousin near Allensville, Amzi Morgan's property. I found the land was still in the hands of the descendants and Amzi's 140 year old house still stands.
Dear List & R Morgan Thank you again! First how do I get to that web-site accessing just RootsWeb.com? Second, I am really, really curious now since I went to the map of Madison... there are 2 sections of 109 & 100 acres with A. Bryson and 40 acres with A. Bryson Jr. The document I received from BLM states that Abraham Bryson bought 81 acres - Section 5, Township 1, Range 3. I am not sure that this is the same as the Madison map. If you would be SO KIND as to review the Madison map and confirm it as the same or different I would appreciate it greatly! I would also enjoy a comparison of current Vinton County to this old map.
