The Children's home is now a rest home and was recently expanded. From roughly 1951 to 1959, My grandparents Icy Steele Mitchell and Fred Mitchell were Patron and Matron of the home. Upon the death of Fred in 1959, Icy was ousted in the belief that the home should be run by two people. Their daughters, ---my mother Berdena and her twin sister Beatrice, lived there during that time with them until graduaton in 1955. On occasion they have contact with some of those that lived there.
