Well, I took a couple of days off from posting articles, and I return to find that someone else has been chastized for posting other articles. Having read the responses to Lona and seeing no other negative responses, I shall resume. It is my feeling that the lists are meant for sharing genealogical information. I know that there is no way that I could search all of the newspapers for 100 years looking for my ancestors, but through the sharing of the information that we each have, we might cover more ground than any of us could alone. My other thought is that Vinton County is a very difficult county to research. There haven't been a lot of records compiled and published, there appear to be many gaps in court house records, and the sparse population of the county means there have been fewer people researching than in more populated counties. It may be that the newspapers are the best way, and perhaps the only way for some information to be obtained. So, assuming the List Owner! does not have an objection, my next posting will be from the papers. Carol Beattie, near Leesburg, VA
