One of these men are presumed to be the father of Gabriel Burns (1853-1929), my great-great grandfather. All are buried at Hamden, although Gabriel does not have a tombstone. Does anyone have any info on these families or suggestions of where I need to search next? Your assistance would be a great help. Thank you. Carolyn Kelly Terre Haute, IN

    3. I've always been told that our Burns is not related to this one, or at least close enough that anyone knew. My g-grandfather, John Burns, came to Vinton County from Mass. His son, my grandfather, Chester, died in 1931 and is buried in Hamden cemetery also. Might be some information on your line at the McArthur Library--they have a pretty good family history section. Lots of obits, etc. Ronda Griffith-Grubb At 02:27 PM 8/9/2004 -0400, you wrote: >Looking to clarify : >1) Andrew W Burns Died Feb 1, 1904 tombstone info: >Co G Ohio Calvary Civil War > >2) Andrew Burns Born Nov 13, 1831 Died June 26, 1889 >58 yr 7 mon 110 d Civil War > >This info from Hamden Cemetery. > >One of these men are presumed to be the father of Gabriel Burns (1853-1929), >my great-great grandfather. 3. You can get pretty good records of Civil War veterans from National Archives. Their pension records are pretty good sometimes.
