************************************************************************************************************ SOURCE: Vinton County Newspaper McArthur Democrat Enquirer July 4, 1895 "Mr. Thomas Salts of Clinton township died on Wednesday of last week, of old age. He was born May 5, 1805, and was 90 years, 1 month, and 21 days old at his death. He came with his parents to this country at the age of eleven years and has lived in the same vicinity ever since. He was twice married, and both wives preceeded him in death. He leaves eight children to mourn his death - three by the first marriage and five by the last. His remains were buried at the Hixon graveyard, near Dundas, on Thursday. He was an honest, good citizen and lived to a ripe old age, having and retaining the respect and confidence of all who knew him.
