* SOURCE: McArthur Enquirer- Vinton County Newspaper March 19, 1873 "SALTS- On Friday morning March 14, 1873 about 2 o'clock at his residence near Dundas, Vinton County, Ohio. Stephen Salts aged 64 years 3 months and 6 days. The deceased was born in Ross County, Ohio and removed to Vinton County (then Athens County) about the year 1816 where he resided until his death. He had lived the life of a Christian having been a member of the Christian Church for many years, and in his dying hours he was sustained and cheered by an unfaltering faith. His peaceful death was a fitting sequel to such a life. He was one of our most respected and useful citizens and highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife, three daughters, one son and many relatives and friends to mourn his death. He was buried on Saturday in the Hoffhine graveyard, two miles south of McArthur."
