SOURCE: Vinton County Newspaper Jan 16, 1918 OBITUARY "James H McNutt was born near Lexington, Virginia. September 13, 1849. Died January 5, 1918 aged 68 years, 3 months and 22 days. On the 28th day of May 1863 he was united in marriage to Amanda M Ullom Russell to which union four children were born. Eric Russell McNutt, Mary Margaret McNutt, Genevieve McNutt and John Robert McNutt of which children Genevieve died in infancy and Mary Margaret died in 1913 at the age of 13. four children by a former marriages Emmett Lee, Harry James, Ernest Cleveland, Elizabeth Birdie and Marie Russell Winters step daughter still survive. For the past twenty three years the deceased has resided in McArthur, Ohio where by his integrirty and industry he has established himself in the hearts of the community. As a husband faithful, as a father loving as a friedn and neighbor trusted James H McNutt has lived a life in this community worthy of the emulation of all. Shortly after marriage he united with the Christian church of this place and was a faithful follower of the Christ, until the hour of death, also for a number of years the deceased has been in the Masonic K of P and I O O F lodges,a faithful attendant and willing worker in all. To the loved ones who are left behind to the friends and associates whom have met here together to pay the last earthly tribute to the deceased, his life stands out as an inspiration a solace in this hour of sorrow, for surely his must be the reward which God holds out to his faithful children.
