Benner of Dundas, Ohio, died very suddenly Sunday afternoon at the home of her son with whom she made her home for several years. She was born near where she has lived all her life with the exception of ten years spent at Baninbridge, Ohio. She was the daughter of Stephen and Nancy Salts. She leaves one son Stephen J. Benner, one sister Margaret Brine, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral is being held Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm Rev___ ( there was a typed line for the minister- see 2nd article below) officiating. W.V. Tinker Funeral Home." SOURCE: Republican Tribune Newspaper December 21, 1929 Vinton County Ohio "BENNER" "Ellen Benner, daughter of Stephen and Nancy Salts was born at Dundas, Ohio then known as McArthur Junction December 1, 1842 and died December 1, 1927 age 85 years and 10 days. She married Samuel Benner manager of Eagle Furnace May 14, 1868 who died January 2, 1913 age 80 years. They had one child Stephen John Benner born March 30, 1869 at Bainbridge, Ross County Ohio. Grandma as she was known by alll leaves one sister, Margaret Jane Brine, the son Stephen, three grandchildren R.C. Benner, Edgewood Md, Mrs W.T. Craig of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs Charley J. Birt of Madison, Wisconcin and three great grandchildren Stephen Jimmie and Nancy Benner of Edgewood Md. She was a member of the Church at Bethel near her home for 65 years, "And kept the Faith". The funeral was held at the home Dundas, Ohio Wednesday afternoon December 14, 1927 . Burial in Hixon Cemetery. Pall bearers were Stephen Du Pue, Stephen Brine, Charley Horaer, W.T. Craig, Howard Wortman, James Wortman. Rev Butterfield of Shawnee conducted the funeral. W.W. Tinker Funeral Home Director. Those from a distance attending the funeral: Paul Benner, Dave Walley, Mr. and Mrs. Benner Walley of Bainbridge; Mr and Mrs John Salts of Nelsonville, Ohio; Mrs Charles Salts of Union Furnace, Ohio; Eric CHerrington, Mr and Mrs John Potter, Mr and Mrs Thomas Wells, Wellston, Mr and Mrs W.T.Craig Columbus and Mrs Charley J. Birt of Madison Wis."
