*************************************************************************************************************** SOURCE: Republican Tribune Newspaper Vinton County Ohio May 15, 1922 "GEORGE SALTS" "George Salts aged 76 years died at the home of his daughter Mrs Ida Lantz on Wednesday March 8, following a long illness. Mr Salts was a life long resident of this community residing on his famr south west of here for many years. He was a Christian man and good citizen, charitable and kind and devoted to his family of six young children who were left to his care by the death ofhis wife and mother. Surviving are two sons Edward of Lewis Center, Ohio and Charles of McArthur and two daughters Mrs Ella Beckley and Mrs Ida Lantz who cared for him during his long illness, two daughters Mrs Bessie Robinson and Mrs Cora Jarvis preceding him in death several years ago. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church Friday at 2 pm conducted by Rev. Bates. Interment in Elk Cemetery. P. Spent his entire life in Vinton county. Died March 8th 1922, aged 76 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was married to Mary McKibben at Pittsburg, PA. about 56 years ago. To this union were born six children, two sons and four daughers, four of whom survive. The two youngest daughters and wife died several years ago. He was left with the entire care of six children all under 10 years of age. No father ever made more effort to care for his children than he did. He always exerted himself to make them comfortable and happy. His Christian life was an inspiration to them. He always had family worship with them morning and evening. He was a faithful member of the Bible Christian Church nearly all his life. He leaves as a legacy to his children a life well spent. He was the last of a family of seven. He took great delight in lending a helping hand to the poor and suffering. Hewas a good substantial citizen , and will be greatly missed, not only by his immediate family but by the community in general."
