"John H. Salts of Nelsonville, came home Sunday to spend a few days with his brother Homer." *************************************************************************************************************** SOURCE: The McArthur Democrat Enquirer Thursday April 6, 1905 DUNDAS NEWS: "George A. Craig, who has been at the bedside of Homer Salts since he needed a nurse, has been excused as Homer is today, Monday visiting his mother Mrs Ivy Salts. Mr Craig an experienced nurse and has no doubt cared for more sick people than any live persons in the community." "John Murdoch and sister Maggie called on Homer Salts and family Friday night and treated them and nurses George A. Craig and T.S. Cox to some very fine music." "Mrs. Cassie Holdron of Wellston, sister of Squire Ward visited Homer Salts and family on Friday." ***************************************************************************************************************** SOURCE: Vinton County Newspaper Republican Tribune Feb 25, 1915 Obituary "HOMER SALTS" "Homer Salts, son of John and Ivy (Hoffhine) Salts, was born at Dundas, Vinton County, Ohio November 19th 1871. He was called from life to death at the Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on February 15th, 1915 at the age of 43 years 2 months and 27 days. He was married December 25th, 1890 to Miss Maggie Ward, to whom were born four children viz: Hazel, Oma, Clyde and Cecil, all of whom are living, also his wife Mrs Maggie Salts at their home in Dundas. Mr. Salts was an honest industrious and kind hearted citizen, growing up to manhood in this, his hometown. During the majority of his later years he was in the employ of the B& O SW and Hocking Valley Railroad. standing high as an efficient clerk. His life as a fraternal feature was mostly with the Clinton Lodge of K of P at Hamden, Ohio and later with the order of Heptasophs at the Dundas Hall with each order he has been a prompt, faithful and earnest worker and a cheerful brother with the brotherhoods. Mr Salts now leaves to mourn his earthly departure, a loving mother Mrs Ivy Salts, two sisters, Miss Belle Salts and Mrs Cora Winters, with two brothers Charley of Hamden and John W Salts of Nelsonville, his wife Mrs Maggie Salts and four children , Hazel, Oma, Clyde and Cecil, besides many near relatives and friends. Elder D. B. Dye conducted the funeral services at the residence, Thursday at 1:30, the orders, officiating at the Hixon Cemetery. FUNERAL OF HOMER SALTS. The funeral of Homer Salts at Dundas, Thursdy, was one of the largest ever held in that vicinity, members of the K of P order from McArthur and Hamden and the home order of the Heptasophs attending Funeral services were held at the home at Dundas, conducted by Elder D. B. Dye, the orders having caharge of the services at the Hixon cemetery, where burial took place."
