SOURCE: Republican Tribune Jan 4, 1939 OBITUARY Andrew Jackson Ward, son of Elias and Katherine Ward, was born March 25, 1867. Departed this life December 26, 1938 aged 71 years 9 months and 1 day. He was united in marriaege to Janey Wycoff, September 25th, 1867 to this union was born 9 children, six sons and three daughters. Two sons and two daughters having preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing , his wife Janey Ward, four sons Edward and Oscar of Dundas, Ohio, Walter of McArthur, Ohio and *Lafayette of Prattsville, Ohio, one daughter Mrs Walter Zimmerman of McArthur, Ohio, one brother Hilas Ward of Dundas, Ohio and one sister Mrs Cassie Holdren of Guernsey county, Ohio; also thirty grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. He was born in Vinton county,Ohio and spent his entire life in the county of his birth. He was loved by all who came in contact with him. He was a good neighbor and a loving father, and will be sadly missed by all. "I cannot say and will not say That he is dead- He is just away. And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there, And you- O you, who the wildest yearns, For the old time steps and the glad return.
