SOURCE: Vinton County, Ohio Newspaper Vinton Courier Republican June 6, 1910 "DEATH OF WILLIAM SHRY" William Shry, aged 70 years, died at the home of Mr and Mrs Samuel Nixon, with whom he had been making his for some time past, in Swan Township, Saturday evening June 4 ( 1910) of heart failure. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday forenoon, burial in the old cemetery here. He was born in McArthur, September 1840, and at the time of his death was the oldest citizen of this place of those born here. He was the son of Amos Shry, one of the old pioneers of this section, and had lived here or near here all of his life. His only surviving near relative is a sister Mrs Lydia Kirkendall, living in Long Beach, Calif. His wish that he be buried next to his uncle Joseph Bobo was complied with."
