SOURCE: Vinton County Newspaper Republican Tribune April 6, 1927 FRANKLIN P. McCARLEY "Franklin P. McCarley aged 58 years died at his home in McArthur March 31, 1927. He served in the US Army during the Spanish American War and had been Foreman on the Section for the Hocking Valley Railway at McArthur for many years until last fall when his failing health caused him to be retired with pay. He leaves to mourn his passing the widow and five children, four girls Mrs Hortense Robinson, Nola McCarley, Evelyn McCarley, Georgia McCarley and son Franklin Jr. Funeral serices were held Satuday evening at 7 o'clock Rev. L.L. Cherrington officiating. Burial was Sunday at Henderson West Virginia . H.K. butler undertaker of Vinton in charge."
