[This article was transcribed without making changes to spelling or grammar.] Athens Messenger November 17, 1887 VINTON There is a total of 5,934 children of school age in Vinton county. The Vinton County Teachers' Association will meet at Zaleski next Saturday, Nov. 19th. The Eagle Furnace property in Vinton county offered for sale by the Sheriff on Monday of last week failed to sell for want of bidders. Charles Thomason was badly crushed about the hipsand had his back severely injured by being caught by a cage in the shaft at Elko coal mines recently. It was apprehended that his injuries would prove fatal. The McArthur Enquirer says of the water of the Hamden Artesian Well: Although highly impregnated with salt, it is not unpleasant to the palate, and differs in this respect from the Blue L?ck and some other medical waters. We have not yet seen any account of its analysis but a number of persons, it is stated, are using it with good effect for rheumatism and stomach troubles. Transcribed by Joyce Robinson
