Landman, the oldest citizen of Jackson township, died, recently, in his 95th year. Mr. Patrick Canty, father of J. P. Canty, Treasurer of Vinton county, died at his home in Mt. Arthur, recently, aged about 78 years. Mrs. Jemima Ankrom of McArthur, wife of J. P. Ankrom, died recently in her 48th year. Blood poisoning from a carbuncle was the cause of death. The Vinton Record says: Wm. Large, of Swan township, if the oldest citizen of the county. He was born in 1789, after Washington was elected, and is now in his 98th year.
