[This article was transcribed without making changes to spelling or grammar.] Athens Messenger September 15, 1887 VINTON The attendance at the Vinton County Fair was larger, says the Record, than at any previous Fair held in the County. The McArthur Record says: On Thursday of last week, George, an infant child of Robert Turner of this place, was attacked by a swarm of bees, kept on the place and nearly stung to death. His mother only succeeded in getting the bees of (sic) by a copious application of water and vigorous brushing. The McArthur Enquirer of last Thursday says: At the time of going to press Miss Annie P??rce, the youngest daughter of Capt. A. P??rce. is lying very low with fever.
