    3. I am researching the Cain family in Vinton Co, Elk Twp from abt 1850 timeperiod. This deed has been incorrectly copied in the courthouse and should have read: John Cain instead of Joseph Cain. Thanks for any help, Karen Land Deed: Vinton Co, Ohio-- Joseph (sic) Cain, by Jno. T. Foreman, Audt. to David McQuade, March 7, 1880-- Vol 20, page 430 This indenture made the seventh day of march, A.D. 1880 by and between John T. Foreman as County Auditor of the county of Vinton, in the State aforesaid of the second part witnesseth, that whereas the Treasure of the said county of Vinton on the fifteenth of January, A.D. 1878 did sell according to the provisions of the stature in such cases made and provided to David McQuade the whole of the following described lot or parcel of land situated in the said county of Vinton for the taxes interest and penalty charged thereon for the year 1876 and also the simple tax for the year 1877 and listed for taxation on the Duplicate of said county in the name of Joseph Cain to=wit: The undivided half of the south half of the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of Section number one (1) of Township number eleven (11) and of Range number seventeen (17) containing ten (10) acres more or less and the same having been duly advertised agreeably to law and the taxes interest and penalty ! due theron remaining unpaid on the fifteenth of January, A.D. 1878, the time appointed by law and also in and by said advertisement for the sale of delinquent lands set forth, the said ten acres were by Joseph P. Whittatch, Treasurer of said county on Fifteenth of said month of January aforesaid between the hours of ten o'clock in the forenoon and six o'clock in the afternoon of said day offered for sale at which time and place came David McQuade, who bid to pay said taxes interest and penalty, for ten acres being the whole of the said premises above mentioned and there being no bidder who would pay the taxes aforesaid for a less quantity the said ? 1/2 S 1/2 N.W.N.W. ten acres were struck off and sold to the said David McQuade for the sum of $2.00 being the amount of said taxes, interest and penalty which said sum was forthwith paid by said purchaser to said County Treasurer. And more than two? years having elapsed from the time of said sale and the land so sold as aforesa! id not having been redeemed and the certificate of said sale, having been produced to me, Now therefore on the request of the said David McQuade. I the said John T. Foreman Auditor of said county of Vinton, in consideration of the premises aforesaid and by virtue of the authority in me vested by the laws of said State of Ohio do hereby grant and convey to said David McQuade the premises so sold as aforesaid. To have and to hold the said premises hereby conveyed with the appurtenances thereof to the only proper use and benefit of the said David McQuade his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said John T. Foreman as County Auditor of the said County of Vinton has hereunto set his hand and seal officially the day and year first above written. The State of Ohio, Vinton county ss: Before me, the subscriber in and for the county aforesaid perso! nally appeared John T.
