    3. Dear Dorothy, Thank you for the update on the children of George Murdoch and Leonora Trainer. I wonder if anyone has their obituaries? I look each time I go to the McArthur library ( which if I am lucky is 2x a year). I do a lot of copying and Roselle Hunter is such a gem in helping me find things! George and Lenora Trainer Murdoch had 7 children Francis George died in 2002 I have his obit. He was 92 Vernon Doris Bayard Margery Paul Thanks for the information! Colley, 87, of Hamden Route 1, died Wednesday April 6, 1994 at Huston Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born July 21, 1906 in Clinton township, Vinton county she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose Ann Malone Kirkendall. Mrs Colley was a homemaker, a member of the Bethel Church of Christ, Vinton County Gold Star Mothers, and Wellston;s American Legion Auxillary. She is survived by several neices and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Herbert in 1964 , a son James who was killed in World War II; three brothers Willoughby, John and Albert Kirkendall and three sisters Maggie Hass, Sarah Leach and Alta Trainer. Services will be Saturday at 11 am at the Garrett Blower FuneralHome in McArthur with Rev Robert Leedy officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Cemetery. "Missionary Dies in East Africa" "Native of Vinton County was One of First White Women to Penetrate Jungles" "Mrs Blanche Hunter Downing, wife of Rev Lee H. Downing died at Nairobi Hospital, Kenya Colony, British East Africa, November 4 of cancer of the liver. She was 61 years of age. In 1901 the Downings with others went to the above part of Africa as missionaries. The women that accompanied Mrs Downing were sid to be the first white women that had penetrated that part of Africa. She was the daughter of the late George Hunter and Marietta Hoffhines Hunter and was born in Clinton township, Vinton county. Surviving are her husband, one daughter Lucille Downing Sawhill, who lives at Carnegie, Pennslyvania, two sons Herbert and Kenneth who are with their father in Lyable, Kenya Colony, British East Africa, two brothers Carl E. of Memphis, Tennessee and Dr. G. Herbert Downing of Frankfort, Ohio, two uncles J.S. (Milt) Hunter and Ed Hunter Sr. of McArthur and numerous cousins including Nira Tucker, John W.     3. Dear Dorothy Thank you for your note! I know exactly which house you are talking about in Dundas. My dad amd mom both told me that the bricks for the house were made on the property too. Dad knows we are related to the Murdochs but never was too sure how until I started doing my genealogy. I know of one Murdoch who moved to Muskingum county - he was once the County Superintendent of Schools when I was teaching down there. Unfortunately at the time, I did not know we were related, nor did I know he was from Vinton Co. I am hoping that posting all these obits will trigger some new finds, help others and perhaps get everyone to share at least 1 obit! Just think how busy this list would be!
