    1. RE: [OHVINTON-L] Elizabeth McCarty Kinkead
    2. Jeff Davis
    3. Hi Kath! Thanks for the response! David Kinkead (b:1761 in County Tyronne, Ireland; d: August 24, 1820 in Guernsey County, Ohio) had two wives. The first was Mary Land who he married May 05, 1787 in Burlington, New Jersey. She died 1795 in Westmoreland County, PA. I believe they had four sons. The early records use several Kincaid spellings but Kincaid was the most frequently found. It appears that all of the children of this marriage used that spelling. His second wife was either Elizabeth McCarthy, Elizabeth McCarty, (or as some speculate... Elizabeth Alexander. It appears that she was born in either Ireland or Scotland around 1766 and died sometime around 1830 in Gurnsey County, Ohio. All of the issue of this marriage used the Kinkead spelling. (I have a copy of David's will and there are three different spellings ... Various census records use a variety of spellings for just about all of the family). This branch of the family moved about Belmont, Athens, Monroe, Washington, Guernsey, Mushingham, and Vinton counties. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, November 08, 2002 11:51 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [OHVINTON-L] Elizabeth McCarty In a message dated 11/7/02 10:10:53 PM Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > Does anyone have any info on Elizabeth who married David Kinkead circa > 1800? > > Jeffrey, Probably spelled Kincaid. 3. Helen I don't have anything to connect Amanda with, don't even have a birth year or census with her on it. Only have a marriage record and they only recorded the names in that time period. The McCarty family I found in the Vermillion County, Illinois 1860 federal census are as follows... page 155, Illinois, Vermillion County, Vance Township, reel 653-233, enumeration date 27Jun1860 line 34, dwelling & family #1103 McCarty, John, 50, M, Farmer, 2270, 700, VA McCarty, Muim?, 46, F, OH McCarty, James S, 16, M, OH McCarty, Elizabeth, 14, F, Ill McCarty, George, 11, M, Ill McCarty, Alvin, 9, M, Ill And on page 156, living with a family by the surname JONES McCarty, Aaron, 5, M, Ill You know, I hadn't really looked this over until now, but with the wife and oldest listed child being from Ohio, maybe I should look there for Amanda. As John wrote me off list, some of his line (not McCarty's) traveled from Vinton County, Ohio to Vermillion County, Illinois. Amanda could very well be an older child to the McCarty's I found. I haven't been able to find them in either county in the 1860 census, but did find a John McCarty & family in the 1860 census, living in Vermillion County. 3. Hello I have a William Carty/McCarty b 1808 OH md Clarissa Davidson 1829 Brown Co OH. Family moved to Parke Co IN about 1856. In 1877 Wm & Clarissa and some of the kids were in MN then KS. Son Uriah and two married daus stayed in IN. Have more detailed info if interested. Helen -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Blackman [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2002 9:20 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [OHVINTON-L] McCARTY Amanda IL Kathy All I have is she was married March 05, 1857 in Vermillion County, Illinois. She died in a smallpox epidemic in the early 1860's. Her husband and one child survived. He remarried in Douglas County, Illinois, in 1864. I haven't been able to find them in either county in the 1860 census, but did find a John McCarty & family in the 1860 census, living in Vermillion County. I don't know if this is her family, but was hoping someone may know something. I have connections in Vinton County, Ohio, but they are not in this line. After reading your postings I thought I would ask. Do you have anymore? There are multiple lines that made it into the Ohio area if that is where your Amanda came from.
