Hi Kath! Thanks for the response! David Kinkead (b:1761 in County Tyronne, Ireland; d: August 24, 1820 in Guernsey County, Ohio) had two wives. The first was Mary Land who he married May 05, 1787 in Burlington, New Jersey. She died 1795 in Westmoreland County, PA. I believe they had four sons. The early records use several Kincaid spellings but Kincaid was the most frequently found. It appears that all of the children of this marriage used that spelling. His second wife was either Elizabeth McCarthy, Elizabeth McCarty, (or as some speculate... Elizabeth Alexander. It appears that she was born in either Ireland or Scotland around 1766 and died sometime around 1830 in Gurnsey County, Ohio. All of the issue of this marriage used the Kinkead spelling. (I have a copy of David's will and there are three different spellings ... Various census records use a variety of spellings for just about all of the family). Hello I have a William Carty/McCarty b 1808 OH md Clarissa Davidson 1829 Brown Co OH. Family moved to Parke Co IN about 1856. In 1877 Wm & Clarissa and some of the kids were in MN then KS. Son Uriah and two married daus stayed in IN. Have more detailed info if interested. Jeff, So you have Amanda McCarty with approx birth date of 1837? Do you have anymore? There are multiple lines that made it into the Ohio area if that is where your Amanda came from. Kathy All I have is she was married March 05, 1857 in Vermillion County, Illinois. She died in a smallpox epidemic in the early 1860's. Her husband and one child survived. He remarried in Douglas County, Illinois, in 1864. I haven't been able to find them in either county in the 1860 census, but did find a John McCarty & family in the 1860 census, living in Vermillion County.
