Hi Charles, I expect you have gotten an answer to your question below by now, but here's what I found just in case. I checked on Boblett Cemetery and it is in Harrison Township. If you have a particular name to look for there, I could check for it when I get back to the library. Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles R. ROSSER, RONALD E. Rank and organization: Corporal, U.S. Army, Heavy Mortar Company, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division. Place and date: Vicinity of Ponggilli, Korea, 12 January 1952. Entered service at: Crooksville, Ohio. Born: 24 October 1929, Columbus, Ohio. G.O. No.: 67, 7 July 1952. Citation: Cpl. Rosser, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty. While assaulting heavily fortified enemy hill positions, Company L, 38th Infantry Regiment, was stopped by fierce automatic-weapons, small-arms, artillery, and mortar fire. Cpl. Rosser, a forward observer was with the lead platoon of Company L, when it came under fire from 2 directions. Cpl. Rosser turned his radio over to his assistant and, disregarding the enemy fire, charged the enemy positions armed with only carbine and a grenade. At the first bunker, he silenced its occupants with a burst from his weapon. Gaining the top of the hill, he killed 2 enemy soldiers, and then went down the trench,! killing 5 more as he advanced. He then hurled his grenade into a bunker and shot 2 other soldiers as they emerged. Having exhausted his ammunition, he returned through the enemy fire to obtain more ammunition and grenades and charged the hill once more. Calling on others to follow him, he assaulted 2 more enemy bunkers. Although those who attempted to join him became casualties, Cpl. Rosser once again exhausted his ammunition obtained a new supply, and returning to the hilltop a third time hurled grenades into the enemy positions. During this heroic action Cpl. Rosser single-handedly killed at least 13 of the enemy. After exhausting his ammunition he accompanied the withdrawing platoon, and though himself wounded, made several trips across open terrain still under enemy fire to help remove other men injured more seriously than himself. This outstanding soldier's courageous and selfless devotion to duty is worthy of emulation by all men. He has contributed magnificently to t! he high traditions of the military service.
The OGS has a wonderful website and it has all the chapters listed and if the chapter has a website you can connect to it. They also give the chapters address and meeting day and time and location and email address if available. Marjorie L. For those who are miles away from their birthplace, Ohio, I believe we need all of the information possible for serious genies. National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution have a website and it is easy to search the sites in the various Societies. It works for us and so far I have not seen a way you can move from one County site to another without spending an inordinate time in your search. Has OGS set up a system to make the job easier? Jim McCafferty, former Buckeye born in Columbus, OH. Most of my relatives came from Vinton County, my great grandfather, my grand father and my father. All had the McCafferty surname and their first name was James.

Crystal, Charles and List members, I have ancestors from these areas and would volunteer to do what ever is necessary to get more of these records posted to the web site. I am in Pennsylvania so I do not have access to these but if somebody has a way to get copies to me I could transcribe them and send them back to Charles for posting. Any suggestions on how I can help let me know. Carl E. Rob, I am in Vinton Co. right now visiting my Dad, but I will be back at my home on Sunday or Monday and I will look at my files and see what dates and names I have that might help you. The names that you mention are familier sounding names in my Brooks family, so we are probably looking at the same Howard Brooks and family. I'll write to you on Monday. Have a great weekend. Jerri
Jerri, I have just started on the Brooks Branch. Actually the only thing I have is that my Dad's sister Doris Cecelia Schrader married Lee Roy Brooks on Aug 4 1946. I am researching the "Brooks Branch" for my cousins. All I know is that Lee Roy was born to Howard and Anna "Waldron" Brooks Aug 5 1922 in Logan, Ohio. And I would love to surprise them with additional information. All the information I have is this so far to go on. If you could supply more I would be very greatful. ************************************************************************ Lee Roy Brooks, 75, Reynoldsburg, died Saturday, June 27 at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Columbus. Born Aug. 5, 1922, Logan, he was the son of the late Howard and Anna Waldron Brooks. He was a shipping foreman for Plaskolite of Columbus. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Skeens of Lockbourne and Denise A. Brooks of Columbus; two sons, John Jeffery (Penny) Brooks of New Albany and Roy Michael Brooks of Westerville; three sisters, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Freeman and Mrs. John (Ruth) Switzer, all of Logan, and Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Kishler of Junction City; three brothers, Howard Brooks, Clarence (Jeannie) Brooks and William Brooks, all of Logan; three grandchildren, David, Michael and Miranda; a great-grandchild, David Jr.; and his former wife, Doris Brooks of Westerville. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Rose Toney. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary K. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Graveside military services will be conducted by Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. I am out of town right now and don't have all the dates with me, but Howard is the son of David and Martha(Mattie)Quick Brooks. He would have been born in the late 1800's and I'm not sure what his son's name is. Howard had a sister Goldie and a sister named Laura I believe. At one time I believe Howard lived in Colorado and New Mexico. Howard also had a daughter living in Ross County, OH. in 1949. Does any of this fit in with some of your info? > > Jerri >
