    1. [OHUNION-L] Alexander Ferguson (1790 - 1883) OHIO...
    2. Shar & Del
    3. List, If you get this twice in UNION County, I apologize, because I'm resending it. I think I sent it the wrong way the first time. It has been some time since I've posted (if at all), and I'm just now getting back into my family tree. If any of you have any of my direct line, as follows, in your family tree, I'd like to hear from you. I've just recently come into a file from a relative that listed William Ferguson's father and where he was located in Ohio. Being a relative novice, I haven't done much searching, except in Marion County (and reached a dead-end), but I plan to widen my searches. I haven't yet incorporated the file into my online genealogy database; however, I'm willing to share pertinent parts of it with anyone interested until I do update my files. If any of you would like to look at what I do have, please feel free to go to http://www.gemair.com/~delshar and see if we have anything in common. I don't have any commercial advertisements. Any link I have is for something I personally use and recommend. I don't have any idea who, if anyone, does visit. Cheers! By the way, I'm number 6. 1. Alexander Ferguson 1790 - 1883 (Magheragall/Antrim/Ireland, PENN, Logan Co., OH) Note: Alexander appears in 1840 and 1870 Logan County Census... 2. 1. [OHUNION-L] 1850 Cencus
    2. Kelly Smith
    3. Is there anyone who could check the 1850 Union County Cencus for me. I'm looking for Perry Grubbs who was born in 1844 and orphaned very young. Family stories say he was raised by a Quaker preacher woman and lived most of his life in Jefferson Twp. Logan County. I found his brother here in Logan Co. but no sign of Perry. I'm hoping he lived on the other side of the county line in Union County when the cencus was taken. I'll happily do look-ups here in Logan Co. 3. Susan, Do you know if any of your Union Co. WHITEs are connected to a Martha WHITE who married Aaron HUFFMAN before 1810, probably in VA. Martha died about 1835 in Highland or Greene Co., but other members of her family may have moved to Union Co. with HUFFMANs prior to 1840. 3. Depending on which Program you use for your genealogy data, you may be in luck! I use "Ancestral Quest", which has a date calculator (I put in any of 2 pieces of information --- e.g. I'll put in death date and the age such as 89 yrs 3 mos 2 days --- press calculate and up comes the birth date). Another program, called Legacy also has this feature --- . There are a couple of places on-line that you can use, also. This probably isn't lots of help --- but.. Also, our web page has a Genealogy Helps section that links to calculating dates from census forms --- the link is http://www.wdbj.net/~wdbj/gen/birthyear/cenindx.html Pam (in Idaho) Our page is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sonatra/ > > I frequently see information on tombstones and death certificates that gives the date of death and age at the time of death, and what I really want is a birth date. Does anyone know of software that makes the calculations using death date, age, and birthdate when any two are known? (There are functions like this for interest, principal, interest rate in spreadsheets, but I have not seen one for dates.) If I have to do the calculation by hand (brute force) what conventions did people who calculated ages in years, months, and days follow? Did they consider leap year? Did they use 365 day years (e.g.., some banking calculations use 360 day years to make calculation easier)?? > > Any help will be appreciated.
