I am looking for information on Harriet E. Burroughs's family. Harriet married Ira Homman/Homan in Union County on June 24, 1861. I have a strong suspicion that her father's name is William Burroughs and that he was a boot maker. It is possible that she had siblings named, Ella, Frances, Carrie, Manley & John but I have not been able to prove that. That information came from somewhat unreliable source. Harriet was born about 1842 in NY state. If the William I suspect is her father than according to census records he was born in Mass. and his parents in Conn. One reason I suspect he may be her father is that he is living next door to her family in 1880 census in KS and her father is listed as being born in Mass under her record. I have not had an opportunity to check them yet but there is also a William Burroughs listed in the 1850 and 1860 census in Union County, OH, Allen Township page 215 in the 1850 and page 165 in the 1860 according to an index.
Seeking researchers of Johnson families in Logan Co., Ohio area beginning 1820 when Jacob was in Logan Co., OH census Jefferson Twp. In 1830 David Johnston is in Jefferson Twp. page 81 and Jacob is found in Monroe Twp page 51. Is this the same David Johnson who is bur: Greenlawn Cem. 1848? David Johnson resident of Logan Co. purchased land in Union Co., Ohio 1838. Is anyone searching for David or Jacob? David's children: Matthew, James, Wilson, Mary Jane NORVIEL, Margaret STOUT, Eliza GREEN, Elisabeth RAWLINS, & Isabelle FURROW. All David's children sell to Matthew except James who prob. died in 1866 being bur. in Greenlawn Cem.. Jeannet
Does the inscription on David Johnson's tombstone read d 11 Mar 1848? Is it true that it also says GAR? Are these two items compatible? Does GAR mean that he was in the Civil War in the 1860s? GAR comes from "Perry & Zane Townships Logan County, Ohio" by the Logan County Genealogy Society. Who can help me with this? Jeannet Greiving
Good morning everyone, This is my brick wall that hits a dead end approx. (around) December 1925 - January 1926. I'm looking for Harold Lee BISHOP born August or September 1900 in USA, Massachusetts or Rhode Island. [I have a birth certificate from EACH state.] According to the 1920 US Federal Census, his parents are registered as Canadian "aliens". Thus, could he have traveled to and decided to reside in one of his parent's homelands?? Harold Lee Bishop, his parents & one surviving sister moved west to Ohio from New England about 1902-03. His parents are Canadian born - father, Howard Emerson BISHOP of Albert County, New Brunswick, died 1939 in the US in Summit County, Ohio; mother, Margaret Jane HAYMAN-Bishop of Colchester County, Economy, Nova Scotia, died 1921 in the US in St. Petersburg, Florida but is buried in Summit County, Ohio. According to stories (and a few documents), Harold Lee Bishop was in Union County, Ohio until January 1926 and then maybe in Summit County, Ohio up until (about) 1928-1930. From about 1922 to January 1926 he was to have worked as a "garageman" for a Plain City sales & repair business called, "Mercer's Garage" or "Brigg's Garage". [I have verified the name of such a business.] A cousin's wife has posted a page for our BISHOP family, http://members.fortunecity.com/researchtree1/bishop.html - which has a rare photo of Harold Lee Bishop and his eldest (of 3) sisters. Hopefully the photo & name will ring a bell with someone. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone might be able to give me. Genealogical Death Indexing System, Michigan http://www.mdch.state.mi.us/PHA/OSR/gendis/index.htm - The current system contains information on 150,000 Michigan death records from 1867-1882. The Public Libraries of Saginaw maintains an index of over 125,000 obituaries from the Saginaw News dating back the 1800's. http://www.tricitynet.com/pls/obit.nsf Maybe these will help someone. I checked my union co OH marriages for him and Carolyn, but nothing on them in Union Co, OH. You are requesting info from the wrong list. London, Ohio, is in Richland county and Madison county. I suggest you inquire in those rootsweb listings for this information. You can probably get a copy of the marriage document by writing to both of the court houses in those two counties. Give them as much info on both persons that you have when requesting documents. For the addresses, go to a search engine, like excite or yahoo or dogpile, and enter genweb. It will come back with the genweb project and probably many more sites as well. Click on GenWeb. Back will come a page where you can click on a map of the US, click on OH, then click on the county, then you should be able to find where the courthouse is and it should have its address. Good luck.
