Hello, list. My name is Dave Weekley. My gg-grandparents were Peter Burnett and Bathsheba Axtell Burnett. He came from Trumbull County, she from Mercer County, PA. Both were deaf/mutes. Both were born in 1812. Given the distance and the difficulties of travel in those days, and infrequent occasion to leave the farm, it has always amazed me that these two deaf people found each other. I have assumed that they probably met at school - a school for the deaf. My question to the List: does anybody know of such a school that was operating in the vicinity in this time frame? I queried the Western PA School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh a month or so ago, but no one responded. Any help would be appreciated. Dave Weekley
