I am brand new to this list, so I'm not quite sure this it the type of question to post to this list, but here goes. My ancestor Lydia Wert was born 1830 probably in Bazetta Twp. She died as Lydia Durst (M. William Durst) in 1908, and was married in 1850. Supposedly this all took place in Bazetta. She is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Bazetta Twp. Here's my question: I'm trying to locate a document with her parents names on them. Since no birth records were kept in 1830, I wondered if anyone knows how to find out what churches were in the area at the time. I thought maybe a christening record might have their names on it. I think her parents were Philip Wert and Mary Ann???. If this is true, the family had just come from PA, where they were very strongly tied to the Lutheran Church. I contacted a Lutheran pastor in Cortland, but he says he doesn't know of any churches in the area that far back. Help!!! I have ordered a marriage record and death record for her from the Trumbull Co Archives. I doubt the parents names are on these records though. There is an IGI record for Lydia Wert's marriage to William Durst. The marriage record was apparently used to create the IGI and no parent names are mentioned. I also believe Lydia had a sister who married William's brother. Phebe Wert b. 1828 m. David Durst in 1851. I am also looking up the 1830 census, but since that is the year Lydia was born, she may not be on it. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Bobbie
