Hi Margaret, Have you tried the 1850 Trumbull Co census ? His family should show there. I have a John C Caldwell b.1790 in Trumbull Co who m.Elizabeth"Betsey" Earl (1792-1859 ?) in Trumbull Co 1817. Sorry I have no other info on them and no children. Bob Wallace in IL
