Williams, the son of Charles and Mary Dorsey Williams who lived at 1526 Hazelwood Drive S.E., Warren, from 1930 to at least 1948. Charles Williams was born about 1893 in Czechoslovakia and Mary Dorsey was a native of Pennsylvania, born about 1901. Lt. Williams was a bombardier aboard a B-17 bomber based at Ridgewell, England (381st. Bomb Group) which deployed from the U.S. in May, 1943. On 4 July 1943, Lt. Williams was killed in action when his aircraft was shotdown near LeMans, France. George's siblings included sister Pauline, b. ca. 1921 and brother John, b. ca. 1927. The son of the aircraft's pilot is editing a history of the events and would like to include a biography and photo of Lt. Williams in the finished manuscript. Thanks! W.B. Carah [email protected]
