He was born 5 May 1868 in Jamestown, a son of Royal & Hannah Rhodes Bates & lived in the Jamestown-Williamsfield area all his life. His wife-Clara Wood Bates preceded him in death. A number of nieces-nephews survive. Service will be held tomorrow at McCurdy Funeral Home.
