He was stricken with apoplexy early in the evening & never regained consciousness, death resulting at midnight. MrPond was born in NBloomfield 57years ago & spent his young manhood there. He later came to Warren & learned the druggist profession with AE Smith from whom he worked a number of years. Later he became a member of the drug firm of Pond&Kistler. After leaving there MrPond had charge of stores in Orwell, Burghill, Bristolville; then ran the hotel at NewtonFalls & for the past 2 years has resided at Hiram. He was twice married, his first wife being Alice Bradford-of this city. Two children were born to them: Richard-Ravenna; Maude Pond-NYC. Later he married MrsMary Reimold-Bristolville & she with 1 dau survives. The following bros & sis also mourn his death: BW&GW Pond, MrsAnna Gladding, MrsMary Pursell, MrsFlora Scott & MrsJulia Clark. Short f! uneral services were held Tues at Hiram, after which the body was taken to NBloomfield, where services were held Wed at the home of his sis: MrsAbner Clark.The remains were placed in the vault for the present. OBIT: OH-Warren Tribune 5 Jun 1928 MARY M POND: Niles; 69, passed away yesterday at the home of her dau-MrsAC Kistler. MrsPond had been in ill health for some time but had been around until a few days ago when she was confined to her bed, death resulted from complications. MrsPond had made her home in this city for 19 years having lived with her dau during that time. She was born 23 Jan 1859 at WSalemTwp, a dau of Mr&Mrs John Templeton. The deceased was a member of the PHC, Macabees & an untiring worker of the Christian Church before her health failed. Surviving are 1 dau & 2 bros: MrsAC Kistler; Grant-Transfer & John-ForestGrove OR. Two sons died some time ago. Service will be held Wed afternoon from the home of her dau-MrsKistler, RevElmo Higham-First Christian Church will officiate & interment will take place in Oakwood Cem.
