Born 6 Aug 1894 in Jamestown, a dau of Ernest & Harriet Jane Herrick, she was a member of FourMile Run Christian Church where she had served as lay minister & Sunday School teacher for over 25 years. She was a member of the GoldStar Mothers Remembrance Chapter. A graduate of KentState Normal School, she was the teacher of the first kindergarten class in Austintown Public Schools. She formerly taught in Williamsfield & Leetonia. She had served as a precinct worker for several years. Survivors include her husband WilliamM Betts whom she married in 1918; 3 children: MrsFrancis Tomkins-MineralRidge; MrsEllaJ Reed-Cleveland; Richard Betts-Youngstown; a bro: Houy Herrick-Springfield IL; 7 grandchildren & 2 gr grandchildren. A son-Robert was killed during WWII. Friends may call at Austintown Chapel-Lane Funeral Home. Service will be held Sat in FourMile Run Chris! tian Church. Burial will be in FourMileRun Cem. OBIT: OH-Youngstown Vindicator 03 Mar 1984 WILLIAM M BETTS: MineralRidge; 91, died Thursday in his home. MrBetts was born 5 Mar 1892 in Williamsfield, a son of Walter & EllaMarie Hall Betts & was a carpenter for Rose Construction Co until his retirement in 1960. He was a member, past elder & deacon of the church & was a former chairman of its board of trustees & was its custodian following his retirement. He was a member of Niles Odd Fellows & the Church Mens League. His wife, the former Mildred Herrick whom he married in 1918, died in 1970. He leaves 3 children: MrsFrances Tompkins-MineralRidge; MrsEllaJayne Reed-Cleveland; Richard-Austintown; 7 grandchildren, 18 gr grandchildren & 1 gr gr grandchild. A son Robert was killed in action in WWII. Visitation at Lane Funeral Home. Service will be held Mon in FourMileRun Christian Church. {Interment in 4MileRun Cem}
