MrBates was born 29 Nov 1854 in Williamsfield, a son of Royal & Hannah Rhodes Bates. He was a retired farmer & a lifelong resident of GreeneTwp. In 1878 he married Elizabeth Brown, who preceded him in death in 1900. On 24 Dec 1901, he married Susie Emma Miller who survives. MrBates was a member of State Line Methodist Church for 65 years. Surviving besides his wife, are 2 sons: Claude & Merle-GreeneTwp; 1 bro: Grant-WilliamsfieldOH; 17 grandchildren & 9 gr grandchildren. {ParkLawn Cem} OBIT: OH-Warren Tribune 26 Dec 1961 SUSAN EMMA BATES: Warren; 84, died Sat noon in Trumbull Memorial Hosp, where she had been a patient 3 days. She was born 11 Jul 1887 in Mercer County, a dau of Benjamin & Mary Alexander Miller. In 1901 she married Henry Bates who died in 1946. A resident here 11 years, she formerly lived in JamestownPA. Survivors include 1 dau-Effie Bates-Warren, with whom she made her home. Service will be held Wed afternoon at McCurdy Funeral Home.
