MrErdice was a CivilWar Veteran. He is survived by his wife & 3 children: Carl-SanDiego CA; Will & MrsHA Jackson-this place & a host of friends. Services were held the following Sun. {Interment in Hillside Cem-WFarmington} OBIT: OH-Geauga Republican Record 28 Jun 1922 ELIZABETH BATES ERDICE: formerly Hambden; dau of John & Polly Bates was born near Jamestown 12 Apr 1839; departed this life Jun 17th. She was united in marriage to Augustus Erdice of Jamestown 8 Sep 1868, shortly after his return from the CivilWar where he served nearly 3 years in the 14th PA Vol Cavalry. Four children were born to this union, 3 of whom survive: MrsBelle Jackson, William & Carl Erdice-all WFarmington. One son: Starr Erdice died 10 years ago & is buried in LakeView Cem-Cleveland. Five grandchildren, 1 bro & 1 sis also survive her. She accepted the Christian religion when quite young & united with the Methodist Church. She lived a daily consistent Christian life until the Death Angel came & said "it is enough, come up higher." She passed away in great peace, rejoicing in the hope of a glorious immortality. Her sweet spirit & lovely Christian life made her memory precious. Mr&Mrs Eridce spent their early married life near Jamestown, later moving to Kinsman. In ! 1897 with their family, they moved to Hambden where they made their home for many years leaving many friends there when they went to WFarmington several years ago to make their home with their son William Erdice. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1918, relatives&friends to the number of about 200 gathered at their home. Services were conducted by RevR Griffith Pastor-WFarmington Methodist Church, after which she was laid to rest in Hillside Cem by the side of her husband who had preceded her 3 years.
