As I recall there was an actual Austin family who helped creat this locale. Mahoning county was created from Trumbull County and Columbiana County townships about 1850 - two lowest [southernmost] tiers of townships taken from Trumbull and the top tier [northernmost] townships taken from Columbiana. Austintown Township is adjacent to and incorporated in an expanding Youngstown metro area these days and on many maps and government records found as a neighborhood in the Youngstown Metropolitan Statictical Area. BUT for 1810 you would find most any existing records in the Trumbull County material for Austin[town] area.
