OBIT: OH-Warren Tribune 15 Jun 1915 JOHN SOULES: lived near the Center of the World: 74, died Mon night. Death was caused by engineer's paralysis. MrSoules was an engineer for many years on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad & was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers-614-GalesburgIL. He retired from active work about 2 years ago. He was a highly respected man in this community where he had maintained his home for many years. His wife & the following children survive: JW-LosAngelesCA; JD-AuroraIL; Charles-Sharon; Abraham & MrsHudson Solinger-at home & MrsJM Poulton-this city. The funeral will be Thurs afternoon at the home of MrsPoulton. {Interment in Oakwood Cem} OBIT: OH-Warren Tribune 23 Feb 1935 IRENE SOULES: Leavittsburg; 92, one of Trumbull County's oldest residents & also a pioneer of the early settlements in the west, died Friday at her home after a week's illness of complications. MrsSoules was born 7 Sep 1842 in JamestownPA & as a child moved from Jamestown with her parents to reside in a little settlement near LansingMI. It was but a short time until rumors of "the Indians are coming" were heard & many days of careful watchfulness were experienced by her parents. Later the family went to PlumCreekMN, where they took up a claim; this home site was near a settlement of Sioux Indians. Many fights with the Indians were remembered by MrsSoules & she often related that when Indian squaws were captured from other tribes the women were forced to bead a certain number of moccasins & later were burned at the stake. MrsSoules was a dau of Abraham & Chloe Boulds Betts, came to Warren from GreenvillePA 35 years ago. She was a member of Greenville Methodist Church. Survivi! ng are 4 children: Charles-Brookfield; James-BarstowCA; MrsEmma Solinger & MrsElizabeth Barrett-both Warren; 15 grandchildren & 18 gr grandchildren. Service will be conducted Thurs afternoon at the residence in Leavittsburgh in charge of RevHarry Bunch with interment in OakwoodCem
