I have been looking for information about four Dyson's, all died in September of 1863. Does anyone have access to the above publication for that month. I thought maybe it might be possible when I read the query about Elma McCleer with her obit in that publication in Jan 1863. The Dyson's that I am looking for are: George Dyson d. 26 Sep 1863 Eliza J. Dyson d. 30 Sep 1863 Augustus Dyson d. 21 Sep 1863 James Dyson d. 12 Sep 1863 I am assuming an epidemic of something. I have not been able to find where they died (the assumption is Trumbull Co), where they are buried or any other info. Thanks if anyone has the access to records from the Western Reserve Chronicle. Anything more you can tell us would be helpful. There's not much to go on. When did he die? Would he and his wife and kids have been in the 1920 or 1930 census? Did they live down south in 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930? Did you try to find his obituary? Is there any information available from your mother? Did your cousins have any information on their Grandparents or any old bible records or anything? I'm not finding anything in the Social Security Death index for an Arthur Graves who died in Mississippi. Anything you can add would help us to help you. Regards, --Wyatt R. Christy gave them to me and didn't have the citations. Possibly they are from a Cambridge Springs, PA newspaper where the Humes lived. "News Article - probably Cambridge Springs, PA Our community was shocked yesterday by the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Elmer E. Humes and full credence could hardly be given the report. However, it proved to be too true. Mrs. Humes has been in generally good health with the exception of prevailing colds, until without warning yesterday afternoon she fell unconscious to the floor. Medical assistance was summoned, but it was too late, the physician stating that death had resulted from heart disease. Mrs. Humes was a most estimable young lady, and was universally beloved. Of a bright and cheerful disposition she has always been a favorite in the society of our town, and had been a prominent figure in religious circles, having for years, been a consistent member of the M.E. church and an earnest and devout Christian. Her husband and two small children have suffered a loss words cannot express and the whole community, with hearts filled with sympathy, join in mourning the untimely death of the young wife and mother.! The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the house. Obituary Dust to Dust On Saturday morning last, at 11 o'clock the relatives and friends of the late Mrs. Martha Humes gathered at her sorrow-stricken home to pay the last sad tribute of affection. The day was a dreary one, the rain falling heavily, but a very large concourse was in attendance. The services were conducted by Rev. L. D. Darling, a former pastor of the M.E. church here, under whose ministry Mrs. Humes and her husband were converted and taken into church membership. Rev. A.J. Lindsay , the present pastor, assisted with the obsequies, and the church choir was present and sang the hymns appropriate for the occasion. Thoughtful and loving friends had brought flowers in profusion, and the last view of the departed one, surrounded by these lovely blossoms, was very beautiful, although it was the beauty of death. Mrs. Humes, at the time of her death, was 28 years old. Her maiden name was Martha Edwards, and she was married to Elmer E. Humes on July 31, 1881. She leaves to the care of her husband, two children, Georgia in her sixth year, and Esther, aged nearly two years. Among the immediate relatives present at the funeral were Mr. And Mrs. E.R. Edwards, E.R. Edwards, Jr, Harry Edwards and Ella Edwards, all of Mineral Ridge, O., Mrs. John Cowick , of Mill Village, a sister; and a cousin, Mrs June Lloyd and daughter Anna of Youngstown, O. Two other brothers, John, of Youngstown, and Corey, of Michigan, were unable to be present. Internment was made in Gravel Run Cemetery. Thus ends the short life of one who was loved and respected by all who knew her, and although death was sad, all the bereaved ones are buoyed up by the positive knowledge that she was prepared to meet it, and they look forward to a happy reunion beyond the river of death."
