    3. Thanks for the information Linda M. There is no obit, which I found strange seeing he was one of the few doctors in the area of Johnston in the 1820's until his death in 1846. In other counties I have found "ledgers" as I can best describe them, which just list the name and cause of death and usually a next of kind. Death date that is recorded for Anson ROOT, came from a Root genealogy book from 1870, which has been pretty dependable. Do you know if the Archives have hours of business? Maybe I am looking back to far for documentation. 3. Death records weren't recorded until 1867 in Trumbull Co & they are a little sketchy in the early years. The Library has a Death Record Index 1867-1908. I also have a copy if anyone needs a look up though I ask for patience in waiting for my reply<G> The death records are at the Archives so if you find the reference in the index, you can ask the Archives for the actual death certificate. Yes the Library & Archives are completely separate entities. The Library has the History & Genealogy room for researching. The Archives have the actual old records of marriage, birth, death. They also have Wills. They use to have Military records but those are now at the Recorders Office & they, too, are very helpful. The Recorders office is just a few buildings over from the Archives. The Library is only a few blocks away-very convenient for anyone visiting the area. Linda G re your ROOT ancestor-you might check with the Library to see if they have any Bible records about this family which might help confirm birth or burial place. Have you checked for an obituary- sometimes they contain burial place. Linda M Phoenix AZ Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken. 3. Hi Doreen in NZ, A parent, usually a father is named if one or both were under legal marrying age, location of marriage is usually given and the person who preformed the marriage ceremony. There is a code that will tell you where you can find the original, which I think is in the Achieves in Warren, but some one else may be better able to answer it for you. 3. Hi Pam, Foulk seems to be the spelling to get married George m. SHOOP, Nancy in Champion 1 Jan 1846 by Wm H. McMurray JP (L 1844-50 pg 99) (4/171) George Jr. age 18 m. TOMKINS, Rebecca of Bazetta by Samuel Chesney JP, George Foulk consented (l 1833-35 p233) (2/232) No Daniel Need more info on MCCOY as their are 12 grooms and 10 brides, just a clue of any kind to narrow it down. Snodgrass, same on that name. There were also a large number of Snodgrass' in Mercer Co. PA and the Mercer County History has a bio on the family. My ROOT family married into that group. Any clue to where they lived, when, to narrow it down otherwise will have to wait until I am out of the house and can copy the page. SHOOP Wm age 18 m. ROBISON, Maryann age 14 of Youngstown Jul 31, 1826 by Lewis Heaton, JP, respective parents consented (L 1822-27 pg 220) (QS/305) No grooms for SHUPE, but a number of brides. Any idea of first names? Hope some of this helps. A lot of women were married at 14 back then. Ages must have been 21 for men and 18 for women, did not take much reading to figure that out. Give me some more info. Doreen, I don't know about other people, but I think it's useful when people post lookup requests to the main group. #1, we may be researching some of the same names, and #2, you are getting them into the list's archives, which means that future researchers may benefit and be able to contact you if there is a connection. mrf Milwaukee, WI ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doreen Nelson" <DOREEN.NELSON@xtra.co.nz> To: ohtrumbu@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 11:26:28 PM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central Subject: Re: [OHTRUMBU] Trumbull Co Marriage Record Index 1800-1900 Hi there, I am not sure if I should be sending this to you or the list. Linda, does the Archives also have a "Death Book", am looking for my ancestor, Dr. Anson ROOT, May 6 1846, have a date of death, but cannot find where he is buried. I have the Cemetery Book as well, but he is not list there. I have been to the library in Warren, but my understanding is that the 'Archives' is something different. If anyone is looking for graves it is helpful to know what township they lived in when they died, can give a clue as to where to look. 3. Yes the Library in Warren has this book in their genealogy & history room on the 2nd floor. The Library will also do simple lookups & you can email them from their web site for those unable to get to the Library in person. The Archives hold the actual marriage records & if you find your ancestors marriage in this resource, you can visit the Archives while you're in Warren, or write to them for copies of the records. I also have a copy of the Marriage Record Index in my home & can do lookups though I'm sometimes slow getting to them. Linda Myers Phoenix AZ BTW there seem to be a number of us Linda's on this list Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken. Western Reserve Chronicle, November 16, 1870: "Jehiel Perkins - one of the oldest citizens of this county, Mr. Jehiel Perkins, died at his residence in Vienna, on Saturday last, 12 inst., at the age of 89 years. He came to this county sometime previous to 1810, and carried the mail from Warren to Pittsburgh, during 1810, which, owing to almost the wilderness condition of the intervening country, was a tedious and trying task. Mr. Perkins served his country in the war of 1812. He has left a widow in the 82d year of her age." Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
