    1. [OHTRUMBU] Prentiss John LAW of Ohio, Idaho & California
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: LimitlessEternity Surnames: Law Graff Taylor Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.trumbull/5093/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching out descendants of Prentiss John LAW b. 1865 in Ohio, d. 1968 in Oakland, California. He was apparently a good friend of my Great-grandfather, Charles TAYLOR of Roy, Utah. Our family has an old photograph of Mr. LAW with the notation that it was one of Charles' friends. I would love to make sure that you have a digital copy of it (I do not have the actual photograph myself). I would like to find out if any of Prentiss' LAW's descendants have any information on GGpa Charles TAYLOR. My guess is that they worked on the railroad together, as Charles TAYLOR was doing that job until 1900, when he moved from Idaho to Utah. Preliminary research on Mr. LAW has turned up that he entered the military in Idaho. The information that I have on him is as follows: Parents were John H LAW (b. 1826 in Pennsylvania) & Caroline (b. 1828 in Pennsylvania). Both of whom died sometime after 1900 in Trumbull County, Ohio.(1880 & 1900 Censuses, Trumbull, OH) Prentiss married Josephine GRAFF, daughter of Catherine GRAFF. They had four children: Prentiss Jr, b. 1904 in Oakland, CA Catherine, b. abt 1908 George H, b. 1911 Mary Louise, b. 1915 (1910, 1920, 1930 Censuses in Oakland, CA) Prentiss joined the Idaho Infantry, Regiment 1, Company G. Found correct US census from 1880, showing him being a dentist at age 28, living in his parents' house, Asahel E from CT, and Nancy B from MA, along with his wife Arlettie and their first two children. I also have an IGI marriage index for Austin J Goodrich and Arlettie Hamilton from 1875 in Geauga, OH. Found the US census from 1900 Sharpsville, PA showing my ggmother, Arlettie, as a widow, living with the children as I know them. While my ggmother was a widow on the 1900 census in PA, an Austin J Goodrich, dentist, is listed as a widow on the 1900 census from Trumbull. In the 1910 census, a DR AJ Goodrich is listed as divorced, and remarried for 4 yrs to an Anna. In 1920, he is still a dentist, but his wife is now Reta. I have an IGI death index on an Austin James Goodrich, b 28 Sept 1851 and d. 24 Jan 1931. The death certificate information was given by yet another wife, Mary S. It states his parents as the same people as are on my 1880 census, but lists them as being born in Waterville, NY (f), and Bristolville, CT (m). It appears as if my ggfather falsified records, making it very difficult for me to trace my roots.
