Author: daw640 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.trumbull/5090.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Gloria, There are 3 reasons that someone may be missing from the Ohio Death Records: a) they were already dead before the records were kept, b) they no longer lived in Ohio, c) they were simply not recorded. I assume that you checked the Ohio records which began in October, 1908 so I checked the earlier records (1867-1908) which were kept locally and not by the State. Neither James nor Rosanna were listed in those records either. They also do not appear in the US Census of 1910 in Ohio (or anywhere else as far as I can determine). Next, I checked for Rosanna in her previous marriage in the 1880 Census. (As you probably know, the 1890 does not exist, having been destroyed by a fire in the Department of Commerce building in Washington in 1921.) Here I had some success. She is listed with her first husband, Sylvester, and four children, the youngest of whom is Wilson, born in July 1879. The reference is: 1880 Pennsylvania, Beaver County, Big Beaver Twp.; Enumeration District 177, page 79D (see attachment) A map of Beaver County is here: http://usgwarchives.org/maps/pa/county/pausgs.htm Also listed is her *brother* Thomas McColum [sic], so you now have her maiden name. Further searches in earlier Censuses may locate her with her parents. The Warren-Trumbull County Library also houses the Local History and Genealogy Center, which has many obituary indices. You might contact them to see if they can locate an obit for either Rosanna or James. The URL is: http://www.wtcpl.org/site/c.iqLSI0OyGnF/b.3443837/k.AD25/WTCPL_Local_History__Genealogy_Center.htm I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck! Dave W. If I cant get it through them then I will contact the Trumbull County Archives by mail or phone to get it from them. I been looking for Rosanna for a long time, she wasn't easy to find. I would like to find her death so I can order a death certificate to see who is listed for her father. I searched through the ohio death certificate index listed in the ohio historical society but couldnt find her. :( Do you have any suggestions on how I can find her death? She is my Great Grandfather's sister, I ordered my Great Grandfather's death certificate hoping to find their father's name on there. It wasnt listed. :( Maybe it will be listed on her death certificate. Thank you so much for your help. :) Have a wonderful day. Below is the link to the Family Search Pilot site. http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?...# In a quick glance through the pilot site and through Ancestry, Well, maybe not so quick, lol. I found the Death Cert for Thomas Young, son of John Young & Eliza Gardner. It is attached. I Have not been able to locate any death Certs in the Pilot site for years as early as 1877, but I don't think they are done transcribing yet. Of the other names that you provided the only other thing that I find on the Pilot site is the 1880 census for William & Saphronia Young. I did a search of the 1870 census on Ancestry of Mercer County, Pa and I did find a William & John Young Living in the same household in Shenango Township, Mercer County. The age of William is 24 and the age of John is 19. If John's birthday was after July 27th 1870 the date that the census was taken, this would makes his birth year 1850. What I find interesting is that John died in a Coal Mine accident. His brother William according to the 1880 census was a Coal Miner. In this 1870 Census the father of this William & John is also a Coal miner. Although I can not positively identify this William & John Young as your William & John Young I do find it pretty interesting so I have attached the 1870 census as well. I have found several John Young's from PA in the Civil War. Very hard to narrow it down so I am of no help there. I'll keep trying though. YOUNG (served March 1865 to June 1865 from Mercer Co. PA), born 1849-1850 PA or Scotland or on his death on July 11, 1877 (burial 7/14/1877) in Brookfield Coal Mine accident, buried in Brookfield Center. His wife was Eliza Jane GARDNER-YOUNG, married about 1870, 3 children, Thomas Reese, Lorena J. and John YOUNG. I am seeking a reference to the names of his Mother & Father. I believe this to be the Loretta Jane Wright Loy Wade that you mention. I can not find a death Cert for a John Wade in Trumbull Co, Ohio, Yet. I am working through the Family Search Pilot site on the LDS wedsite, and I believe they are still transcribing. I will look again at a later date. I did find a Civil War Pension index card for a John Wade, Co E. 96th Reg, Ohio Inf. If you can figure out which Co he served in and find him on the index you can send for his pension file. I did the same for my GGgrandfather and I am glad that I did. His marriage certificate to my GGgrandmother was in that file along with so many other things that really brought them to life for me. Anyway, I hope this helps. Jamie Lynn Munn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Thank you Linda for your quick reply. I think that the marriage listing that you sent is my ancestor, Margaret Lewis. It was her second marriage...She married a David Lewis and they were married until her death in 1905. I found her obituary but it doesn't say where she was to be buried. I thought it would be Welsh Baptist Cemetery because of her Baptist affliation.
