Author: daw640 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.trumbull/5114.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Trumbull County has been recording marriages since about 1800, but there were certainly events which either were not registered or for which the record has not survived. Unfortunately, the Trumbull County Marriage Record Index has no listing for the marriage of James WILSON and Louisa LUM. Hubbard Twp. is the south-easternmost township in Trumbull County, lying along the border of Mahoning County and the Ohio-Pennsylvania State line. Mercer County, PA is on the other side of the State line (East of Hubbard Twp.), so perhaps the marriage took place there. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: daw640 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.trumbull/5111.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Chris, I was in Warren today and checked a few pieces of information at the Local History and Genealogy Center. I didn't arrive in time to accomplish all I had planned to do, but I did have time to discover some further information. I had mentioned previously the death dates of William F and Frances and their 2 sons Frank and William R, and their son-in-law William TAYLOR. These were obtained from their Death Certificates. You can find Ohio Death Certificates from 1908 through 1953 online at this site: http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1196875127453#start Clicking on the map of North America will open a new window where you'll need to scroll about halfway down the page. Images of the actual Death Certificates can be downloaded free. The Trumbull County Cemetery Inscriptions show the entire Thomas family is buried at the Niles Union Cemetery. This agrees with the information on all the Death Certificates. Information and GPS co-ordinates for the cemetery are here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=42415&CScn=Niles&CScntry=4&CSst=37&CScnty=2117& There are 8 burials (these are NOT listed on Find-A-Grave): William F, Frances, Anna E, Helena and husband William TAYLOR, William R, Frank H, and a nephew G Edgar THOMAS. Due to time constraints I was able to get only 5 of the obituaries: Anna E THOMAS DAVIES (d. 2 Nov., 1893, age 26); Frank Hooper THOMAS (d. 19 Aug., 1910, age 26); Frances Hooper ADAMS THOMAS (d. 10 Mar., 1913, age 64); Prof. G Edgar THOMAS (d. 24 Dec., 1918, age 32); and Lena [sic] THOMAS TAYLOR (d. 10 May 1926, age 55). On my next visit I'll get the others. Lena's obituary says that "Her only surviving relative is her father...", so that would seem to settle the fact that there were no grandchildren of William and Francis. I have hard copies of the 5 obits from the microfilms, and will send them to you if you'll send me your mailing address. It would probably be best to do this off-list. You can e-mail me at daw640 at pobox dot com Just eliminate the spaces and replace at and dot with the appropriate symbols. Author: tomchambers81 Surnames: Rice Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.trumbull/5125/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am seeking a qualified researcher to locate records related to Isaac Rice, a Revolutionary War veteran living in Vernon, Ohio in 1840. Property and legal records are what I'm looking for so that I can establish his socio-economic profile. This work is part of a scholarly article that I am writing (I'm a history professor at Niagara University in NY). This would be paid work through a contract with my university. I hope to avoid having to travel to the archives. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. You might try Mark Painter. He lives in Fredonia, PA, but that is right across the state line from Trumbull Co., OH. He has done some excellent research for our family that lived in both Mercer Co. PA and Trumbull Co. OH. Best way to reach him is probably through the Mercer County Historical Society on Pitt St. in Mercer, PA 724-662-3290. If he is not available, they maybe able to give you some other names.
