I am researching the surnames, THURSTON or THUSTON beginning around 1820 in the Trumble County area. The family came from Washington County, PA. Alexander and Henry THUSTON married SIDDALL sisters in Trumble County in 1839 and 1842. Thomas R. THUSTON (or Thruston) married Sarah (?) and they had two sons, Delorma and Morris. I believe Delorma married Mary Jane MOORE in 1855 in Mahoning County and Delorma died in 1855 in Columbiana County. Alexander, Henry and Thomas R. THUSTON may be brothers -- or at least related. Thomas R. THUSTON was born in Washington County, PA as were Alexander and Henry THUSTON. The parents of Thomas R. THSUTON I beleive were Jacob and Margaret ROWLAND THUSTON. Does anyone have any information on any of these families? Thanks! Don Reynolds. I have, among our family papers, a very sweet letter written in 1850, from Geo. W. VAUGHN, of Warren who was visiting Wellsville, Columbianna County, OH to Mary Ann ACHOR, in Warren, Trumbull Co., OH. If there are any Vaughn or Achor descendants who might be interested, please email me, I'll forward a transcript. Virginia Burke Virginia Burke

Below is a list of the records I have found in the Trumbull County, Ohio Probate Court Archives of marriage, birth and death indexes related to the Butt/Butts surname. So far as I have been able to tell, none of these connect into my line of that name, but maybe they will help someone else out there! Three family groups could be readily identified, the others are sort of odds and ends, but since one genealogist's odd or end can be someone else's breakthrough.... Happy hunting! Seeking any info on a Richard SHAW who came to Trumbull Co. c.1835-1840 from VT. He was born c. 1752-54 in Waterbury, New Haven Co., CT and served in Am Rev in CT. He was 80+ years old when he left VT and moved to Trumbull Co., so I suspect he moved there with SHAW children and/or grandchildren. I don't know if his wife was still alive or not. There must be other related SHAW families in the county 1835-1850. Does anyone have access to the 1840 census who could do a look-up for me? I'd like to know what SHAW families were in Trumbull Co. then who had a 80-90 year old male living with them. Richard Shaw died in Trumbull Co 4 March 1847, listed as being 95, and is buried in the Niles Union Cemetery. Any help would be appreciated. -- Helen Graves
