    3. Hello, I am new to this list and am interested in all surnames as listed in the subject of this message from the early 1800's to about 1850 when most of my line migrated south to Meigs and Gallia Counties. My main objective is to locate information on my gg grandfather's parents. They are thought to be John and Jane (Ralston) Carr/Kerr. My gg grandfather Hiram Carr was born in Columbiana County 17 Feb. 1825. His wife was Catherine Chamberlin, born abt. 1825, Maysville Ky. and moved to Columbiana County abt 1840. They were married 6 April 1843 by John Jackman. The Chamberlin's were thought to be from Liverpool Township. Hiram's sister Anne married George S. Miller and in 1840 they were found living in St. Clair Township. I have also found connections in Trumbull County, Bazette and Liberty Townships. I did find a John Jun Kerr in Trumbull County, Liberty Township in 1820 that I think is his father. I only have access to the census index and do not have any books available here on the history of these counties so any information would be greatly appreciated. I have collected everything I could from the library and have gotten some information from others. I also have collected information on these families as some members of these families and in some cases all members of the families migrated to Michigan in the 1870's. If your missing some people from these surnames, let me know, I may have found them here. Thanks in advance, Ray

    3. Hi Norma! We've corresponded before about James Moor and I thought we had a connection but now I'm not sure. I have a copy of the 1860 Ellsworth township, Mahoning county census showing a James Moore age 49 born in Ohio, his wife Elizabeth age 54 born in Ohio, Eleanor J Moore age 29, John W Moore age 12, and Andrew D Moore age 9. Since the 1850 and 1860 both list a John W instead of my ancestor John M Moore, I believe that this is not my James Moore family. Also, the age listed for John W on June 12th, 1860 was 12 making his birth year 1848 and not 1846 which is when my John M was born. I can only conclude that these two John Moore's are two different people. My James Moore must have left the Canfield area after his son (John M) was born since there are no other James Moore's in Mahoning county in the 1850 census. 2. Nom De Nette
    3. A quick FYI to anyone who finds ancestors buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Boardman Township, Mahoning County, Ohio: Forest Lawn (may all genealogists everywhere bless them!) tapes the deceased's obituary onto the backs of their index cards. I'm sure you could get copies of the obituaries and index cards from them if you write/call the Forest Lawn office for (at most) a very nominal fee (they didn't charge me anything when I got mine). This is a huge help and time saver, as you can imagine. Forest Lawn is the only cemetery I've ever found who does this. Their addy is: Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 5400 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512, (330) 782-3386. They were extremely helpful to me when I was just starting out on my search, and you can imagine how great a bonus getting all the obits right off the bat was for me! Since everyone on one side of my family was buried there, I got names back as far as my gr-gr-grandparents in one fell swoop. I hope everyone else will be as lucky!! 2. Kathleen/Robert G. Marsh
    3. Helen Graves asked if Trumbull County probate records and deeds have been microfilmed. According to information from the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, "Marriages, wills, probate records and journals for the earliest years are available on microfilm." Carol Willsey Bell, Certified Genealogist, is, undoubtedly, THE authority on researching in Trumbull County. She staffs the Local History and Genealogy Department at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, OH 44483-4692. You might write her, enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope, with your brief questions. Kathleen Marsh kmarsh@innet.com
